The GAA has issued advice to clubs and counties for activities that are permissible and not permissible in 2021 until further notice. Under new Level 5 of the plan for living with Covid-19, only individual club training is permitted for GAA clubs. Intercounty resumes on April 19th. Underage resumes on April 26th in small groups. Neither adult or underage teams may train collectively & club games are not permitted. These restrictions will remain in place for the foreseeable future.

Askeaton-Ballysteen GAA Story: 1884-2020

The upcoming book on the history of the GAA in the parish by Paul Anglim is at the final draft stage. The book will be over 400 pages and there are nearly 300 photos included from the very early days of the GAA in the parish up until 2020. A print date and launch date is not certain at the moment due to the ongoing pandemic but hopefully the situation should be clearer in the Summer time.

Sincere thanks are due to all the people who have become patrons of the book.

There are 160 patrons at the moment and there is still time to have your name associated with this worthy cause. For €50 you will become a patron and have your name printed on a patrons page. You will also get a book worth €20. Printing costs are quite substantial for such a big book and all the money collected will go towards printing costs. If you want to become a patron, contact Paul Anglim on 0872838990 or pay through Revolut.

Service to the Elderly

Ballysteen GAA along with Askeaton GAA & Askeaton/Ballysteen/Kilcornan Bord na nÓg GAA wish to offer our services to the eldery and the most vulnerable in our community during this current time and throughout the weeks ahead.

All three clubs are coming together to give back to our community that has supported us throughout good times and bad. We will be offering to help anyone who requires shopping, prescriptions, fuel etc to be collected on their behalf and delivered to their doorstep.

We will support local businesses to help keep our local community going. Listed below are our coordinators numbers. You can ring or text these numbers and we will organise assistance thereafter. Best hygiene practices will be used by our volunteers during the delivery of this service.

Thanks to everyone who is volunteering as part of this. Every little helps in the sustainment and sense of community amongst ourselves. Please remember to share this information to people who are not on Social Media so that they know this service is available.
