Minor Football

Shannon Gaels 1-8

Rathkeale 2-8

It was nip and tuck throughout in poor conditions last week for our minor side. In a tight contest, we looked dead and buried when Rathkeale got a goal 10 minutes from the end. However, our lads put together a great move and scored a goal of their own..After that, there were many examples of heroic defending, but right at the death, Rathkeale struck the decisive goal. We were very unlucky, and most definitely deserved another day out. Man of the match for Shannon Gaels was Paul O'Donnell. Great credit is due to Joe Martin and Kevin Sweeney for the effort they have put in to these fellas to ensure the future is bright for the club.

Team: Aidan Fogarty, Michael O'Shea, Gearóid Woulfe, Maurice Fitzgerald, Pádraig O'Connor, Conor Shine, Harry Tobin, Paul O'Donnell, Kaolan Sweeney, Martin McNamara. Hugh O'Donnell, Ciarán McNamara, Cormac Thompson, Donagh McEnery, Zach Behan Subs: Breann Cunningham, Seán Adams, Billy McDonagh.

Girls Football

Our Girls football academy concluded last weekend. Once again there was a huge turnout which gives great hope for the future of Ladies Football our parish.

Thank you to all the parents who got involved and supported the initiative. Next Spring we hope to develop this great interest further by taking part in full scale competitions.

Retirement

Glin GAA club would like to wish Fr. Tom Crawford all the very best as he begins his retirement. Fr. Crawford has been a great supporter of our club for all the years he has been in our parish, especially during our crusade for County Junior honours from ’08 to 2014, and even when we beat his native Ballylanders in the County quarter final of 2012! Fr. Crawford's popularity amongst the people of Glin is attested to by the huge turnout for his Golden Jubilee celebration last year. We very much hope Fr. Crawford enjoys his retirement.

New Arrival

Congratulations to our 2014 winning captain, Paddy Fitzgerald and his wife Ciara, who welcomed baby Aoibhinn into the world recently.
