Aughavas GAA Notes July 27th

It’s Coming Home,

The Junior A championship came home to Aughavas on Saturday evening last (without the cup) when we defeated near neighbours Cloone in the final in Park Sean on a beautiful evening for football,  Cloone started this game at a blistering speed scoring 1 goal and 4 points in the first twelve minutes and a white wash look on the cards. But Aughavas didn’t panic and a series of points by man of the match Seamus Sweeny and also by Niall  Mc Cabe & Colin Maguire had us back in the game and the crucial score came before half time a brilliantly taken  goal by Fintan Gallogly after great build up by Seamus Sweeney & Niall Mc Cabe sending Aughavas in leading by two points 1-7 to 1-5,  Early scores in the second half by Sean Mc Kiernan, Sweeney a few and Maguire  put us  four  ahead  but Cloone responded with some good scores  but a great block by shavik before the water break prevented a Cloone goal, late points from Mc Kiernan, Sweeny  and Mc Cabe had us  four ahead at the final whistle,  Great celebrations took place then on the field with supporters and players absolutely delighted with this great result, The players were welcome home by a bonfire and a large crowd at the Dugout were celebrations continued until eleven o clock, Commiserations’ to Clone and thank them for a good sporting game and it was great to see the Cloone players come to the Dugout on Sunday to celebrate with the Aughavas  it was lovely to see and very much appreciated by all in Aughavas GAA, Again thanks to Pauline and Staff in the Dugout for the lovely food on both days and to Pat Mitchell for the wonderful breakfast on Sunday morning for the players it went down a treat.
