Gortletteragh club notes

October 30, 2020

Covid-19 Level 5 Restrictions:

As we enter Level 5 Restrictions for the coming six weeks and into December, we must head back to the well once more as a community and as a club to battle Covid-19. We would like to remind you all that our club statement of the 14th March 2020 still applies, "the values that tie us together as a club and a community endure regardless". People in the parish and wider community who may need errands, deliveries, pick-ups or anything that you think we may be able to help with in the coming weeks need only get in touch with the club and we will do our very best to help.

"Ní neart go cur le chéile agus tada gan iarracht."

“There's no strength without unity and no success without effort.”

Anticipated Intermediate Final Thank you’s:

Unfortunately, our Intermediate Final fell foul of Covid but there's no denying that the lads brought great entertainment and enjoyment throughout the late summer to us all, from sunny championship evenings at home in Gortletteragh to the knockout rounds that were viewed on screens around the world, events that seemed out of reach last March. We have no doubt the lads will be ready when the time comes to take the field and bring the Frank Reynolds Cup back to the parish, whenever that may be.

We would like to thank everyone who sponsored gear for the lads in the lead up to the final. We would like to thank everyone who decked the parish out in colour in recent weeks in anticipation of the big day. The flashes of Green and Gold on every road, crossroads and bóithrín were a brilliant tonic as the evenings began to draw in. We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who supported our 'Sponsor a Player' initiative. We received an overwhelming response that was far beyond anything we ever expected. Some more sponsorships have been received even after the games were postponed and these have been posted on our FB page.

Sympathy:

We extend our sympathy to Catherine Gormley, Teresa McCrann and Josephine McGushin and their families on the recent death of their mother Mary, Ar dheis De go raibh a n-anam dilis.

Leitrim vs Mayo:

Best of luck to our county senior team who take on Mayo in the first round of the inter-county championship on Sunday next, 1st November in Carrick-on-Shannon.

Noel McManus Memorial Run:

Many thanks to all those who have registered for our virtual event. The uptake has been fantastic. Registration remains open until 13th November on the following link: bit.ly/3ogzPoZ

In light of new Covid restrictions, we have taken the decision not to mark out the routes around Lough Rynn as previously planned. We feel this is the best option to take given the circumstances and we have the best interest of our loyal runners at heart. Please complete your run or cycle within a 5km radius of your home adhering to restrictions that are now in place.

If some participants would still like to run the actual routes and wait until restrictions are lifted, please send us a dm and we will be happy to mark out the routes at that stage if there is enough interest.

In relation to T-shirts, for any new registrations, there is limited availability of T-shirts. However, we can’t guarantee that you will receive the size you are looking for. Also, we have allocated T-shirts for all our U16 entries, these will be xs adult sizes.

The link for uploading your results is bit.ly/3kme7Oj

We will continue to promote our sponsors on social media. Stay safe.
