Intermediate County Final:
The Intermediate Final takes place this Saturday 26th Sept at 4.30pm in Avantcard Páirc Seán MacDiarmada. Unfortunately due to current restrictions in place nationwide the number of people allowed to attend the game is greatly reduced. The physical presence of supporters in Páirc Seán next Saturday will not be as we would like, however we are with the lads in every other sense. The strength of support is evident in the abundance of green and gold on display throughout the community. We wish the team andmanagement the very best of luck.
County Final Ticket allocation:
As many are aware, the club have been allocated 100 tickets by Leitrim GAA Co. Board for distribution ahead of the Intermediate Final on Saturday 26th Sept at 4.30 in Avantcard Páirc Seán MacDiarmada.
The allocation is as follows;
Every player on the Intermediate Championship panel has been given the option to purchase one Ticket.
Every paid up Adult Club Member has also been given the option to purchase one Ticket.
The option to purchase the remainder of the tickets will be decided via three separate draws.
1) One Draw for people who are paying into the Park Development Scheme.
2) One Draw for members of the Underage Section.
3) One Draw for Gortletteragh supporters not in either of the above categories, who express an interest in attending the game.
Supporters in the latter category must express an interest in attending the game via text message ONLY to 087 0997326 (Club Phone), 087 6483219 (Darren Mulvey) or 085 2072012 (Barry Costello) on or before Thursday 24th of September at 10.00pm in order to be entered. Calls will not be answered. Entries after 10 p.m on Thursday 24th Sept will not be included. Messages must include the name of the person who wishes to attend the game. That draw will take place at the park on Friday the 25th September. Winners will be notified immediately and will have to collect their tickets in person.
The club executive is in an impossible position in terms of meeting demand given the current Government restrictions. We have come to a decision that we believe is the most equitable way of distributing our allocation of tickets. We would encourage all supporters of the team to concentrate their efforts on supporting the lads as they attempt to bring home the cup on Saturday.
The Club will be making no further comment on this matter in advance of the Final.
New Jerseys Sponsor – Thank you:
Gavin Mitchell of Mitchell Meats has presented a set of jerseys to the club ahead of the Smith Monumentals Intermediate Championship Final this weekend. Gavin is a club stalwart and has been a reliable and generous sponsor down the years. A former player, coach and administrator with the club, he is a veteran of our last Intermediate Championship Final in 2012, and played in Senior final in 2004. Thanks to Gavin, Caroline and family.
Green and Gold spraoi:
It’s fantastic to see the support for the lads expressed in the display of colour through the community and parish – with flags and bunting and many other ‘green and gold’ displays. Well done to Aoife and her crew for setting up shop at the park over the weekend making sure no one was left wanting for colour.
U15’s:
On Sunday last Rinn Gaels U15’s overcame Allen Gaels on a full-time score of 3-17 to 2-04 to see them into the final of the Westlink Coaches U15 championship. In ideal conditions the game had an eventful start with a penalty awarded to Allen Gaels in the first quarter. The first half saw displays of good football from both teams bringing a half-time score of 1-02 to 0-09.The second half was a faster game and our boys showed great tenacity and took the lead early on. Teamwork was very evident and some great scores from a number of different players left the gap too much for Allen Gaels to close. Well done the boys and their mentors. We meet St Joseph’s in the final – fixture details will be announced at a later date.
Junior A’s:
On Sunday last our Junior A team were defeated by Aughawillan in a relegation final in Cloone. Well done to the lads for their commitment to the team for this year. We hope to see ye all back on the field in 2021.
Senior County Final:
We wish the best of luck to our near neighbours Mohill in their persuit of another Senior county title next Sunday.
