Dublin ladies captain Sinead Aherne says she is unsure whether or not yesterday’s All-Ireland SFC final victory over Cork will be her last game for the capital women.

Following the 1-10 to 1-5 victory for Mick Bohan’s side, Aherne had the unique honouring of the lifting the Brendan Murphy Cup for a fourth consecutive year on her county’s behalf.

The 34-year-old was withdrawn at half-time with a hamstring problem before being re-introduced in the final minutes and, speaking to RTE Sport on her future, the St Sylvester’s star says it’s something she usually thinks about over the Christmas period.

"He (Bohan) told me to stay warm and we'll see what happens in terms of coming back in. I was feeling reasonably good at half-time, but obviously the longer you leave it the bigger the risk is,” said Aherne.

"I'm just delighted for the girls, a super second-half performance after a pretty poor one in the first-half.

"I'm not sure (about the future), usually I say I'll think about it over Christmas, but that's coming around pretty quickly this year.

"I'll just give the body a bit of a rest and see next year. It's been such a bonus for us to play football this year and it will be a happy Christmas for us."
