Kilkenny manager Brian Cody hailed the attitude, workrate and application of his players after completing a three-in-a-row of Leinster senior hurling championship titles with a 0-22 to 0-17 victory over Galway at Croke Park yesterday.

TJ Reid landed 0-12 as the Cats snuffed out the attacking threat posed by the Henry Shefflin-managed Tribesmen to secure an 18th Bob O’Keeffe Cup success under Cody, and with that a place in next month's All-Ireland semi-finals.

"To be Leinster champions is a terrific honour and something we want to achieve and also you get to the All-Ireland semi-final," a proud Cody told RTÉ Sport afterwards.

"So it's always relief and you're always just very happy when you win.

"But also I'd be very, very proud of the complete attitude of the players throughout the game from start to finish.

"They applied themselves magnificently, they were a real team from the whole point of view of attitude, spirit, honesty and workrate and they're the things you build on and that was top class."
