It was the end of an era in Hawkfield last Sunday when Johnny Doyle brought the curtain down on his remarkable football career.

The 43-year-old called it a day following Allenwood's Kildare IFC quarter-final loss to Sallins. The 2010 All-Star retires having never missed a championship game for his beloved club. He announced his inter-county retirement in 2014 after playing at the highest level for 15 seasons, only to return to the county colours in 2019 when he lined out for the Kildare juniors.

Johnny will now concentrate on his new role as a Kildare selector under new manager Glenn Ryan.
