Glenn Ryan is set to become Kildare’s new senior football manager.

The Lilywhites legend and his backroom team of Anthony Rainbow, Johnny Doyle and Dermot Earley are expected to be ratified by a special county committee meeting on October 19th.

Rainbow is currently in charge of Dublin giants Ballyboden St Enda’s, with Doyle having managed NUI Maynooth’s Sigerson Cup side and Earley served as a selector with the Ireland international rules team.

Currently over his own club Round Towers, Ryan previously managed Longford’s senior footballers from 2009 to 2013, leading them to Division 3 and 4 titles, and he also steered Kildare U21s to All-Ireland glory in 2008.

He succeeds Jack O’Connor in the role after the latter’s departure earlier this month – since which he has been appointed Kerry’s new supremo.
