Senior Football Championship 2014

Dingle should be happy out in the Park, some see it as Stacks "home" venue but some forget the fact that Connelly Park is their home venue and not the Park, I think this game could be a very tight game, only realised today that there will be no extra time it would be a straight replay, Mid Kerry and Shannon Rangers everyone will be routing for mid Kerry here but I have a sneaky feeling that Shannon Rangers are going to come out all guns blazing here, these could be 2 very good games.

I wonder will any "new" players step up to the mark, It'll be interesting to see how young Culhane from Bally will fair out he was on the fringes last year but went across the pond for the summer....

From the quarter-finals last weekend, do you think any will step up?

Maybe a year too soon, a few of the Dingle youngsters might stake a claim for Darragh and Seamus's Under 21 panel but this is all about progression.

Dingle and Stacks was an ok game but like I said above Dingle will be a savage force in 2 years, they have a fine young team but Stacks just had their measure in taking their chances, Dingle missed a few goal chances at key spells and in fairness stacks were far more effective in their forward unit. Funny thing struck me at half time in that game. In centre field you had Kirby against O'Sullivan there must be 20 odd years in age between those two.

The 2nd game was as poor a performance as I have ever seen from a team, ok Mid Kerry were will drilled and any team that has Gary McGrath as their physical trainer will be well fit and Sheehan had them well gelled.... their backs really impressed me, cut down the space harried, blocked etc.. should be a good final Stacks will prob be favourites but I personally fancy Mid Kerry... next year it's either Donnachadh or Donaghy for captain...

Lads who are Mid Kerry? Are they a new club??

They are a divisional side Ziggy, representing clubs which are located more or less around a 20 mile radius of Killorglin, excluding Laune Rangers themselves. They have been going for as long as most of the divisional teams in Kerry.

If they win on Sunday, they can't represent Kerry in Munster and All Ireland club championship so Dr Crokes will take their place as they won the County Club championship last Sunday. If all that sounds confusing, its because it is!

A bit silly? Will they change the system?

No, although there are plans to seriously rejig the formation to be discussed at the next county board meeting, I think it would be more of a benefit to us if they abandoned the situation where the county championship winner choose the captaincy

The championship is grand. They are bound to go changing it though. Some review has been going on.

Great win for the Rockies alright Kingdomboy, delighted for them. 20 years is far too long for a club like them. Kerry football needs the game to be strong in Tralee. From the radio it sounds like they played exceptionally well and Mid Kerry just didn't seem to turn up. Hopefully they won't over do the celebrations too much and have a right crack at the All Ireland club championship!

Wonderful that Star will now lead us out in the new year. To think 2 months ago he was thinking of walking away and now look at him, All Ireland, All Star and County Championship winner! Just goes to show you that class is permanent.

Hi lads, where I wouldn't be a rockies fan, I must admit they have developed a very good set up and have a tidy panel of players all playing with conviction and belief, This is a team, that has faced down adversity and taken the knocks and defeats of 2013 and turned them to their advantage and have succeeded in landing the Bishop Moynihan Cup for the first time in 20 years, I fancied Mid Kerry personally but boy where they blown out of the water after ten minutes, this game was over by mid-way in the first half by a clinical unforgiving performance that one has to applaud.

Star has gone from a player head down and dragging his heels to one that has regained the true form, he was unmarkable yesterday even of the tactics deployed by the midlanders were a tad naïve. Donaghy will captain Kerry next year and he is a leader he has that quality and auro about him that is required, as for the Club championship. From what I saw yesterday they could give Munster a fair rattle, a lot of the "big" clubs are out they could give the All Ireland Series a fair shot.

I just want to say how happy I am for Kieran Donaghy. It was a fantastic year for him. In spite of how he felt after the Galway game this year he hung in and suck with it. The encouragement he got from his Mom and Wife was so important to his success. It just goes to show how important it is to have support in your life and to never give up. He must be over the moon right now. He will make a great captain and leader.

Here here, should never have had to go to extra time, but hopefully the test will stand to them. With Cratloe now gone they have a great chance of taking the Munster title and giving the All Ireland series a serious lash!!

Surprised to see Cratloe get beaten. Stacks will want to leave out the over confidence of O'Rahilly's when they lost out to the Clare champions in the Gaelic Grounds a few years ago.
