Dr Crokes have been condemned to the Kerry SFC relegation play-offs after they suffered a 0-17 to 1-13 defeat at the hands of Kenmare Shamrocks on home turf this afternoon.

Crokes have won the Bishop Moynihan Cup a record 13 times, last winning the title in 2018, but in a dramatic swing in fortunes, they will face their Killarney neighbours Legion in a battle for survival.

The play-off clash will be played once their involvement in the county club championship ends but if either team reaches the final of the Michael O'Connor Cup competition, then the other will be automatically relegated to the intermediate ranks.

At Lewis Road, Cillian Regan's goal parachuted Crokes into an eight-point lead after 26 minutes but the hosts lost control of the game.

Sean O'Shea was unerring from placed balls, helping himself to 0-15 for Shamrocks as they staged an impressive second-half turnaround.
