The waiting ended today as the much-anticipated All-Ireland SFC semi-final meeting of Kerry and Tyrone belatedly proceeded at Croke Park.

This match had twice been pushed back due to the impact of a Covid outbreak in the Red Hands camp and there was uncertainty at one point as to whether the Ulster champions would be in a position to field a team. But, 13 days after the sides were initially due to meet, they finally renewed one of gaelic football's fiercest rivalries.

The prize awaiting the winners was an All-Ieland final date with Mayo on this day fortnight.

Meanwhile, in a curtain raiser of huge significance, Tyrone locked horns with Meath to see who would be crowned 2021 All-Ireland minor football champions.
