Moycullen landed their second Galway senior football championship title in three years after edging out Salthill-Knocknacarra by 1-10 to 1-9 at Pearse Stadium this afternoon.
In the end, it was Peter Cooke’s late goal that sealed the victory for Moycullen as they held off John O’Mahony’s men in a tense decider.
An early goal helped Salthill/Knocknacarra go on to lead by 1-5 to 0-6 at the halfway stage but they couldn’t make their wind advantage count after the turnaround.
Moycullen’s deficit was back at two with five remaining when Cooke hammered in their goal, which was enough to claim the Frank Fox Cup for a second time in their history.
