Replying To BigSur:  "Didnt see the game but why do you consider them unlucky. Heslin doesn't help himself but generally gets dogs abuse from club players and supporters, the same people who lord him when playing with county. Lomans v Kinnegad will be interesting. If weather continues to be wet I'm leaning towards Shamrocks tomorrow."
He's not the first county player to get "dogs abuse" from players and supporters, and he won't be the last. But he should be well used to it at this stage and maybe he ought to be able to handle it better.

Caulry made a strong statement yesterday, that they are well able to mix it with the best.
Two players who stud out in particular were their no. 2 Sean Fox and no 11 Conor Mc Cormac.

In today's game one would expect Garrycastle to advance . However Mullingar Shamrock's may over turn them. As Caulry have shown that group B teams are to be reckoned with.

I'm not sure if it was Shamrocks were very poor or Garrycastle were v good.

Bit of both I think. Shamrocks looked satisfied with qualifying for quarter final and their fitness levels were nowhere near the required standard. Definitely Garrycastle's best performance of the season, a confidence booster for them considering they had only one win out of five before today. They have lost two championship matches in the past 12 months to The Downs, both by the minimum margin so revenge will be on their minds. The Downs will be very wary, Garrycastle have no hurling distractions obviously while The Downs have at least five starters whose focus this week will be on Clonkill's semi final vs Castletown.

If a player is being booed when taking a free, and scores, in my opinions he's entitled to reply to the goading crowd, be it John Heslin, Ger Egan or any other free taker! If your going to dish it out from the stand suck it up if they put it back to you! Before I'm accused of being biased in the group game between Lomans and Garrycastle Alex Gardiner was booed whilst kicking a free, it's completely disrespectful!

Garrycastle looked very good but Shamrocks were woeful. Just 2 scorers I think in Moore and Corroon,5 points from play and 8 in total (4 in each half). They will be happy to have got into group 1 and stay senior for another 2 years after having a very close call v Shandonagh. Had very little on the bench to bring on and Fagan's substitution looked strange as he was one of the few having a go. Such a poor display will leave a sour taste, will be interesting to see if Sheedy stays on.

ye Garrycastle will be fired up for it tbh they hadn't been playing great up until today I would of thought The Downs would beat them but after today it's hard to kno as u said no hurling distraction.

Were you at the game ,i was sitting beside the Caulry subs. Every Lomans free ,kickout etc was met with "how long" ,"throw it up ". Once a Lomans player recieved the ball and started to move forward "steps steps" was shouted. When it stopped the manager flapped his arms at the standing encouraging them to be more vocal. Having said that to be fair to them there was no bad languague or abusive stuff , just everything to put Lomans off

Very hard to say if Garrycastle were very good but they did what they had to do and finished Shamrocks with ease. Shamrocks are lucky they got out of the group as it keeps them out of a relegation battle next year.

Will be a massive battle between The Downs and Garrycastle the next day. Experience vs Youth

If kinnegad can play like Caurly did on Saturday they have a massive chance against St Lomans the next day

Shamrocks looked poor yesterday and found it difficult to kick basic points. I see they were easily beaten by Moate and Caulry so in reality they were not top 2 in D2. Mid table standard. Moate and Caulry were the 2 best teams there and Moate should of qualified before Shamrocks as they beat them.

Yes Shamrocks very poor yesterday. Fitness was clearly lacking, the second half was all Garrycastle. Shamrocks need an injection of young legs and the addition of a scoring forward or two. Not worth bringing in an outside manager when an internal rebuilding job is required in my opinion.

So ye are ruling out The Downs who beat Garrycastle last year in quarter final and this year in group stage ? How about Downs Kinnegad final ? Now that would be interesting but unlikely I accept.

it is Lovely to see Clubs like Caulry , the Downs and Kinnegad that their players have played from underage all the way up to Senior doing well .

Not really how it works im afraid. Killucan beat Moate yet were hammered by Shamrocks. Shamrocks were there on merit but wont last long in the top tier.

Yes, it's nice to see, Bettyboo, but this is not at all unusual. For instance, since 2001 Garrycastle won six of their eight county titles with completely home-grown panels, as well as their Leinster title in 2011. I may be mistaken, but I think Tyrrellspass, The Downs and maybe others have also won senior championships this century with completely home-grown panels.
