Meath would be like Manchester United - always living off past glories...

Waterford hurlers remind me of Newcastle in the ninties, always entertaining to watch and liable to produce any kind of result - could attribute the same to the Mayo footballers....

Dublin - Bit like Real Madrid, always getting bailed out and of late very successful, all the galacticos, flash managers... but prime for a fall.....

Kerry - Barcelona - representing a Kingdom of one..... a lot of style but no substance when its really put to them by a better team, they crumble like the weak soil under their feet

Cork - Millwall - everyone hates them and they don't care

Mayo - Liverpool - never stop telling you how great they are, flashes of magic and promises of delivering but always let you down... next year is always their year

Down - Arsenal - they always have great players and should be better than where they currently are. Used to be great but the glory days are as much behind them as in front of them

Donegal - Chelsea - can grind out results and win trophies but not everyone's cup of tea....

Cavan - Preston North End - they were great back in their prime but its so long ago that not even your grandfather remembers how good they were..

When did Barcelona and Millwall join the premier league? Also Liverpool are champions and back on their perch so O think you'll have to find a different team for us.

Meath more like Atletico Madrid, in the shadow of Real Dublin.

Meath are Man Utd? No there's some delusion of grandeur.

Surely they'd be more like an Everton, still living off past glories but far less successful to begin with.

I'm intrigued by your description of Kerry and Barcelona, can't see what basis it has in reality as regards Kerry mind.

You seem to imply Kerry have been beaten off the park frequently, the records show otherwise.

If being beaten on a given day by the better team classifies as no substance than surely the same applies to any team in any sport that ever got beaten??

Louth are not too bad to watch either. If they could tighten up at the back they would be alright because they have no probs in scoring. Watch out for Sam Mulroy for the Wee County this year. He is like Raul Jimenez of Wolves.

Dublin = Man City - Great players, loads of cash
Kerry = Man Utd - History, tradition, records, unbelievable players, lovely style, on a long losing streak by their standards
Mayo = Everton - Won nothing
Mayo = Liverpool - An annoying shower of .....
Tyrone = Chelsea - Won loads between 04 and 10', not the most attractive brand of football played
Galway = Arsenal - Play nice football, show promise on occasions but haven't won anything in years
Roscommon = Everton - Always hanging with the big boys without really threatening
Meath = Leeds - Great history, fell away but showing slight glimpses of hope recently

Meath would be Norwich City. We're both Green and Gold and recently relegated!!

Firstly, can somebody who says there counties used to be at the top, stop comparing themselves to Leeds. Not every county can be Leeds and there other big clubs in England that have fallen.

For instance, you can't compare Offaly to Leeds as Leeds are a damn good side now and Offaly are not. For me Offaly are like Nott'm Forest. It just more and more steps backwards and there both from the midlands.

As for my own county Roscommon, I think we are like Leicester City. Can pump above our weight, exciting going forward, pull off results against the big teams but lack the constituency to be a serious challengers. Like Leicester, the Rossies have a good and experienced manager that both should have landed the top prize - Anthony Cunningham with Galway hurlers in 2012 and Brendan Rodgers with Liverpool in 2014.

Kildare = Spurs, flatter to deceive, high profile manager who has won championships with different team, come with an exciting team every so often but haven't won anything in a long time, think we are one of the big guns

03 and I'd say that Tyrone's football in 05 and eg v Dublin in 08 was as good as you'll ever see. Standards dropped next decade admittedly

Or the Central Coast Mariners of New SouthWales. .

Secured a big name signing but he never quite adapted and you'd swear he was destined for success in another code

Wexford hurling = Leeds United (won in the 60's and one in the 90's, have gone up and down over the years, now making a real run at things)
Wexford football = Sheffield Wednesday (best days were in 100 years ago. Miles away from the big time right now)

Mayo remind me of Newcastle fanatical support craving for success, if Brian Cody stepped away a few years ago kilkenny would be Man Utd, going through a famine by there standards after a legendary long term manager, donegal under McGuinness were like Mourinho's 1st stint at Chelsea, achieved success in a style not to everyone's liking.

Tyrone? It'd be whatever team nobody else likes; so probably Chelsea. As per e.g., Sweeney's article in the Independent in 2018 when Tyrone got to the All-Ireland senior final. He described Tyrone as "the unlikely and unlikeable finalists"

Too many teams in premiership to compare Kerry to. They more like England in the cricket , just have to beat the Aussies to win the ashes but still can't do it, but they always in the final anyway.
