Your right Keeper7, but Oulart were without 3 of their top players too. Paul Roche and Peter Murphy were injured. Hopefully your right though!

Will those injured players be back anytime soon? Hard luck also to Clonkill who lost by 2 points against Ballyboden. This when the Carlow, Kerry & Armagh senior champions play in the provincial intermediate championships. Then again, Clonkill, Raharney & Castletown-Geoghgan would be competitive in any county at any grade.

That's not a dig at Carlow, Armagh or Kerry, by the way. It's merely commending Westmeath's ambition, a county who would've been hurling in Division 3 of the NHL in 2012 had the league not been re-jigged.

Delighted to hear Liam Dunne has been announced as the new manager. Of course, I correctly tipped him for the job even if he did deny it publicly!

nice to see a wexford man in charge again and also a born winner which has to help cause lets be honest everything around our hurlers is negitive and defeatist so maybe he can bring a stronger better mentality.. my one fear is he is the right man at the wrong time no matter how good a manager is if you don.t have the players you aint goin win and the standard of club hurling in wexford is very sub par. we have a few decent minor under-21 teams comin through but dunne will need time and plenty of it to make us competive lets hope he gets it

I have to be honest, I'm a little disappointed in some ways

Dunne has been doing fantastic work with Oulart De Ballagh and I was intrigued by the prospect of them progressing in the AI club championship, relishing the prospect of trying to take down the mighty Ballyhales/Portumnas, I hope they can continue to improve without him

That said, taking over the senior team will be very interesting indeed, he's already shown he has managerial prowess with Oulart & was one of our greatest ever hurlers from our glory days of the 90s

Time for us Wexford folk to look forward to the championship with some optimism for a change
