New Rules For USGAA

(Oldest Posts First)

Great to see the Aidan McAnespie club of Boston pushing through some much needed change at last November's USGAA Convention. Will have to have 8 homebase players on the field at all times now, two of which have to be American and they also did away with the practice of flying lads over to sign up as homebase on April, sanction players are no longer considered as a resident player. Great to see young American kids being given the opportunity to play at a high level, these kids are as good as any players given the chance.

To be a resident player you now have to be resident in USA for at least a month to be eligible for an inter county transfer before March 31st. Hopefully clubs will stick to the rules, especially the Chicago clubs and not just fly lads in on March 31st to sign and hopefully all registrars will verify they have been resident in their area for at least a month before submitting a transfer. Also for club secretaries in Ireland please remember giving a player an inter county transfer means he can not play for your club when he returns from America

What are the playing numbers like in USGAA at adult age for Americans around the country in both football and hurling? I am more familiar with New York and the adult numbers in football are great with an American majority team winning the last two senior championships. There are many American hurlers as well but not to the numbers of footballers
