Team named: Conservative team disappointment not to see more newcomers such as Hearne and Cian Byrne especially. They must be injured. Glad to see Casey get a chance though. No J Cullen again

Dublin team here:
https://www.dublingaa.ie/news/team-news-dublin-senior-hurling-team-named-for-walsh-cup-final-v-wexford
Hayes not starting and expected not to appear. Looking at both sides, seems they have stuck with newer lads who have shown up well in the earlier games. Was hoping to see both going for stronger starting 15s tbh, but should be a good contest.

We have 5 lads who would be considered newer lads starting and the only lad on the bench who has been a regular championship starter is Simon Donohue. Most of the lads missing, ( Chin, ROC, Bailey, Murphy, and Shane Reck ) are injured or coming back from injury so not sure if they would have started or not had they been fit. Shame Hearne isnt in the 26 as apart from a great point that people wouldve been raving over if it had been scored by Canning or Kelly he looked very rusty in the Kilkenny game. Would've been great to see Jack Cullen feature but he mustn't be up to speed yet or is injured. Looking forward to the game!

Am I the only one scratching their head about the hype this is generating in Wexford? I know it's probably as much to do with the euphoria around being able to go to games again without restrictions, but I think some of it is a bit overboard.
Like I was talking to a fella during the week who was saying he has a box up in Croker for the match (you'd swear it was the All-Ireland final), yet he couldn't tell me who Wexford were kicking football against tomorrow. I know of some pubs showing the match live. I happened to be in Kilkenny last Saturday, and there was no mention of the match!
Yes it would be great to get a win ahead of the league starting, especially for the younger lads' confidence levels, but I would rather lose today and pick up one win or a draw in our two forthcoming league games than win today and lose the next two. It's far more imperative for our development to be competitive in the league than win a fourth priority competition (which Davy won recently too).

Ah I think people are just excited about the new season under new management and with no restrictions. No harm in it a win would get some momentum behind the team for the league even if it means nothing.

Who cares if there's hype and people are excited, don't be so bitter. I could care less about Wexford Football, doesn't make me any less of a Wexford fan than anyone else (and unlike that fella you talked about I do know who they're playing, I just couldn't care less).

I hope the lads beat Sligo Beano next weekend, not tomorrow, it's already a must win game if promotion is to be achieved. But I also know a good few other lads who are passionate Wexford men who would rather the hurlers win than the footballers as they prefer hurling to football. Personally I follow Wexford FC at soccer and follow the town rugby teams results also but hurling is the sport I enjoy watching the most.

Bitter!!
It was just an observation that I don't remember such fanfare over a pre-season competition, even in Davy's first season.
Believe me, I will be delighted as the next man if a win today sparks a succesful run, it's just not something I would normally pay much heed to. Nothing 'bitter' about that. The irony being, you call yourself a fan despite admiting you don't care for football. That's perverse.

To be fair my father is the biggest Wexford football fan I know and couldn't care much about the hurling. Supporting one doesn't mean you automatically support the other. They are different sports

Fairly shocking first half from Wexford. Some bad wides. Even if they scored them all they'd still be behind

11 wides some very poor. Devitt, Dwyer and Reck playing well. Dublin do look very sharp though. Too much long ball into the forwards that we are not winning also.

I know it's commendable to blood all the young lads and to at least try to move away from the previous regime in terms of set up, but tonight (however inconsequential I regard the tournament itself) shows how much the sweeper benefited us.
We threw away a healthy lead vs Kilkenny last week, and got cut open through the middle time and time again tonight. Ryan was a busy man. I shudder to think what Limerick will do to us even if they show up at 70%.
Our shooting is still an ongoing concern, which is unfathomable.
