All Ireland Hurling Ref

With Horgan being appointed for the hurling final will it suit either team? I thought in the first semi final the ref let things go and the match was a lot more physical than the cork Kilkenny match. I'm not critising refs I just think that the way Horgan is applying the rules at the minute it will suit cork! But if the game is allowed to be physical I can't see them living with limericks power. I think the ref will have a big bearing on this game !

Of the 2 semi final referees I thought Horgan was the best. I don't think his appointment gives an advantage to either team. He has refereed many Munster championship matches so both teams will know what to expect from him. Imo he will ref it sensibly and allow physical exchanges that are clearly within the rules. He is more likely to clamp down on thrown passes and that would be no harm at all. I'd say all in Limerick will be happy that Horgan is reffing it rather than the man who refereed their semi final.

Horgan is hands down the best referee at senior level. Good for him that he got the nod for this one.

I just thought it was easier to get frees in the cork Kilkenny match. he definitely was a bit hard on Kilkenny in the first quarter! They did get a couple of easier frees in that first quater IMO. But he is still a brilliant ref. I just think if he refs the game same as the last day it will suit cork as they cannot match Limericks physicality.

If he referees it as he did his previous two finals then Limerick will walk it. He blew nothing in 2017 or 2020.

So Cork don't foul at all. I wonder how did they up with 13 men playing ye. In

Limerick will be happy with this appointment. He is an excellent referee. He will ref the final like a final should be.

Well Barry Nash hit a lad a what appeared to be a perfectly fair shoulder and he was blown for it.

Excellent referee and has a very good set of umpires on top of that. Whoever ends up on the losing side I don't expect it'll be because of the officials. The days of the John Dentons of this world are long gone TG.

John Denton - isn't he from Wexford? What did he do?
I have always said, and even when we lose a match, blaming a referee is loser talk. Always has been and always will be. Was it DJ Carey or somebody who once said "The referee made a couple of mistakes, I made plenty of mistakes in that match?"

I have always said, players make far more mistakes than referees yet only one gets blamed for costing a team a match.
