I agree with Ciaran, we'll be beaten in the 1st round. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8571 - 23/04/2021 13:43:55 2338519 Link 7 |
Dublin got a bye into 2nd round (quarter final) so No Dublin won't be beaten in 1st round. However they play winners of Wexford and Wicklow then so Dubs will go out in a nd round lol

If Kerry had the population of Dublin, no other team would ever win the All-Ireland, so the pressure is all on Dublin to keep winning and prove to everyone that they never actually bought success, needed any particular ref, had to engage in cynical play or have to use Croke Park as their home to achieve their goals. That in itself is a motivator. AfricanGael (UK) - Posts: 1947 - 23/04/2021 14:12:28 2338527 Link 3 |
We had fun while it lasted to be fair to us. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4441 - 23/04/2021 14:14:45 2338528 Link 5 |
Lee Gannon (though he wont get the headlines) im really excited about, i think he looks like he has the potential to be the real deal as a Dublin Senior footballer and would be my tip as a standout of those coming through. Another who wont get the headlines is Mark Lavin, a lovely footballer of quality and skill, he has a real shot in my opinion. O Dell, Swan and Archer - people will know about. We will be alright. You don't have to be much of an analyst to say that Dublin will lose eventually. Any team in the history of sport that have been on a long unbeaten run, were eventually beaten. But it is difficult to see who will beat Dublin. It doesn't appear that there is a team in Leinster that will beat them as most teams don't have the talent to match them and the other teams don't believe psychologically that they can compete with them and are beaten before they go out to play. Not to get personal about it, but for Ciaran Whelan to make such a comment and not back it up with any factual evidence or a hint of why he came to that conclusion is typically of what we hear all the time from pundits on RTE and it is one of the reasons why I have given up listening to the analysis on RTE. There are probably 2-3 teams that on a given day believe and have the talent to beat Dublin, they are Kerry, Mayo (do they have the belief, I think they do) and maybe Donegal (do they have the players, not sure). I don't think the other teams outside Leinster like Tyrone, Galway, Roscommon, Monaghan have either the talent or the belief to beat Dublin. Unless someone springs from the pack (highly unlikely), I don't see the rest having a chance of beating Dublin currently. wicklowsupport (Wicklow) - Posts: 1890 - 23/04/2021 14:25:35 2338530 Link 1 |
Kerry didn't buy success, they were in a mainly hurling province, which helped their provincial championship, compared to the other provinces. They had some very good players over the years. Dublin did not buy success, they developed their underage structures, producing excellent players, and are now the dominant team in Leinster, not ideal for the provincial championship, and possibly Ireland. Other counties are striving to reach Dublin's level, and overcome them.

So do you believe that in a so called amateur sport population makes any difference at all ? You're saying Kerry didn't buy success because "They had some very good players over the years" but Dublin "produced" players. I wonder what other counties would need to help them "produce" players , or help them in their "strive" as you put it. Wouldn't be a thing called money by any chance, would it ?

Well put Mick. As for Whelan, he's probably been watching too many old video clips of the great Micko plamausing all and sundry, back in the day!

As an rte pundit he has to pawn some hope there may be a chance of a competition this year to sell the product. But there won't be. There'll be huffing and puffing and Dublin will win it republicofcloone (Leitrim) - Posts: 375 - 23/04/2021 16:29:07 2338552 Link 1 |
Who knows. I think Ciarán Whelan is a decent bloke and possibly putting a spin on championship proceedings but I'll take him at his word. If he said he's confident of 7 in a row we'd have a thread telling us Arrogant ex Dublin player and RTE pundit says Dublin are certs for Super Seven! Anyways, great to see and hear a new GAA podcast and looks like there's plenty to listen to there until the fields are filled with kids and adults picking and kicking ball. Jood luck to Jmac. As Gary Lineker once said about the World Cup "Football is a simple game. Twenty-two men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win."

Another disappointing championship ahead pal, I can't take it seriously the way things are. You wouldn't know what could happen. realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8571 - 23/04/2021 22:06:02 2338570 Link 8 |

As long as teams continue to setup with a defensive mindset against them Dublin will continue to win. Dubs total football tactic is streets ahead against such. Tried, tested perfected and repeat. It's beautiful. jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20587 - 24/04/2021 19:01:38 2338649 Link 7 |
