In one word a legend. Modest to the extreme and epitomized the meaning of a team player. It would have been nice if he had got an All-Ireland medal. However sometimes medals do not tell the full story of the contribution made.

One of the best hurlers in the modern era. The type of lad I'd say you could play anywhere and he'd probably be an 8 out of 10. Gave his all for Waterford hurling. I was lucky to have seen him play football a number of times also and can say that if he stuck to that he would have been one of the best midfielders in the game

One of the great GAA nicknames as it encapsulates the man , sure he will be a great asset to club and county off the pitch

Best wishes to Brick in his retirement. The player you'd love to have in your team. His presence in the Waterford dressing room will be missed.

It is hard to believe that anyone would give a thumbs down to a post acknowledging the contribution of Michael Walsh to Waterford hurling and the sport in general. To my knowledge he was never sent off and is admired by players from all over for his play and sportsmanship. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but strange.

Great servant but a tad overrated due to his lack of technical ability. Btw, think he was sent off Vs kk in the league for two yellows in perhaps 08?

Not sure about sending off could be right. Listening today to Justin McCarthy, Davy, Derek McGrath, Larry Gorman, Eddie Brennan etc. Brick had some unique ability.

Best wishes to a true gentleman, & a teak tough one at that. I'm KK all the way but you'd have to just be a bitter, biased, xxxx to not have respect for MBW.
In the run up to the '17 final the talk of Joe Canning not getting a Celtic Cross before retirement would be a shame, & sure, there's truth to that. Canning is class & was finally playing consistently but there was no mention of Brick who IMO deserved it as much or more. Granted many a fantastic hurler/athlete has never earned top honors, that's sport, but Brick was totally ignored in that conversation. I'd have Brick over Joe any day. Not taking anything away from the freakishly athletic JC.
All that aside I wish him a happy post IC life & doubt that we've seen the last of him. He seems like the perfect guy to get into coaching & management. I thank you from & for America for all the years of enjoyment you brought to our screens & radios. Looking forward to the Tg4 LG episode of the Brick. thx again.

What a great player he has been and a credit to his club and county. I hope enjoys his well retirement from the game after giving so much to Waterford GAA.
