Enniskillen Gaels tore up the script this afternoon as they dethroned Derrygonnelly Harps to move into the Fermanagh senior football championship final.

It finished 1-15 to 2-11 in Tempo, where Josh Horan’s goal 10 minutes into the second-half proved a huge turning point for the Gaels and it was the expert free taking of Callum Jones that got them over the line.

Gunning for their eight consecutive SFC final berth, Derrygonnelly had led by 1-8 to 0-9 at the halfway stage after Shane McGullion’s early goal was backed up by the points of Garvan Jones and Conal Jones.

Enniskillen Gaels kicked the first two points of the restart through Callum Jones (free) and Conor Watson but looked in trouble once Eamon McHugh flicked to their net on 34 minutes.

Six minutes later though they’d have the ball in the holders’ net thanks to Horan and, from there, the points of Jack Tierney, John Reihill and Callum Jones were enough to see them avenge last year’s final loss while returning to the very same stage.
