The reality is bar Dublin there's only a few points between any 2 teams in Leinster. Kildare only beat Wicklow by two. I thought Ofally were excellent. We were not but to be such a good Ofally performance while playing badly bodes well.
Carlow again will be tough but I'm backing us to make the semi final. The game shouldn't be neutral. It should be in Navan or Carlow. Why isn't there a home and away arrangement?

It's because it was a double header with Dublin. The meath county board need to stand up for the fans and demand we don't get matched with Dublin and prices are €20. Even for the final no higher. Why pay over €20 to watch the Dubs give a hammering. Meath v laois should have been in Tullamore.

Kildare vs Tyrone
Mayo vs Armagh
Westmeath vs Clare
Offaly vs Laois
We have a 50/50 chance of getting the winners of
Westmeath vs Clare
Offaly vs Laois
I'll be up on the hill of Tara praying when next Mondays draw is made. I wouldn't write off Armagh or Kildare either who we shouldn't fear.
I know we are in a dark place now but look at the positives. We have a great chance of making the Super 8's.

All 3 goals achieved. How good does that feel. Felt like wishful thinking as we always seem to just come up short but we did it. Fantastic league campaign and we've backed that up by making the super 8's. The added bonus being we are in a different group to Dublin so no dark blue cloud looming over us.
Now we can finally enjoy the latter stages of the championship against 3 top 6 teams. Perfect preparation for next year's league. Good times ahead against the big boys. Long may it last.
Bonus territory now and if we made an all Ireland semi final it would be one our biggest achievement in 10 years.

A very good article in todays Indo about K Duff where he talks about the battles/wars he had with Meath players over the years. But also has high praise for these same lads who stood behind him through very tough times.
"You know it's all these Meath guys that you battled against, these were the main guys that rowed in behind me," says Duff." Graham Geraghty was public enemy number one as well in his time and got some horrible abuse from the media. Far worse and more personal then what Diarmuid Connolly has gotten. Never seen Geraghty get too much sympathy for it either. It's almost as if it never happened.

Hopefully this year being a success will convince more top club players to accept Andy's invitation to join the setup. We all know how many have refused over the last few years. This year has proved we could compete in Div 1 and with the top teams bar Dublin. It's surely a more attractive proposition now.

I disagree regarding children's tickets. They are a bargain at €5 and rightly should be in the corner. The better seats should be reserved for those paying full price.

Hopefully it's a double header of Laois v Dublin (hurling) and Meath v Clare in Portlaoise. Best draw possible and I'd have it as a 50/50 match. This is our all Ireland final. This is the match everyone wanted to win at the start of the year to achieve our goals.
Hopefully the players bounce back and the whole county gets behind them. Up the Royals!

If Meath beat Clare it will make my year. All goals achieved and 3 excellent super 8 ties to look forward too. They are what we need before going into Div 1 next year.

3. Mayo/Galway in Croker
Fixtures 2 and 3 would be tasty especially if it's mayo.

I have to say Andy is a breath of fresh air. Doesn't try and hide his passion. He was obviously devastated after Sunday knowing how hard the team has trained all year.

The finances and resources are just not there. Dublin are above the level of most AFL teams and the scary thing is they could go even higher.
So from my point of view I'm not deluding myself and hoping we'll someday reach those unrealistic heights. I'm hoping we can reach the level Mayo, Kerry, Donegal etc are at and maybe win a national league in Div 1.
As for the second string the aim is to make the super 8's. Not flog the players against Dublin and receive a hammering. If we win a leinster semi final, train the lads to peak for the qualifier match and play a different 1 against Dublin. We got the best draw this year vs Clare but another year might not be so lucky.

I like Thomas O'Reilly too. Strong lad who has potential. Was it him who held the ball up the corner for a good 20 seconds near the end before passing it back to a free player. You need strong lads like that who won't be disposed easily.
