Quite unbelievable to be honest. I've always liked following the national team and thinking of Italy 94,16 Germany 15 Holland 01 etc. This must be the shock of shocks. I'd be critical of them most of the time, but ya have say fair play to them. Some performance, best since the euros. Great attitude, work rate and just smart play. Troy Parrot gave a lot more than just the goals as well, brilliant at holding up the ball and laying it off or even taking on a man. Need to do it all again now against Hungary.

Portugal still automatically qualify with a home win over Armenia. Hungary likely need a draw or better versus Ireland just to make the playoffs, and eliminate us. That might explain any motivational issues that Portugal had last night. A win in Hungary is probably a bigger challenge than winning last night.

Yeah, he was immense last night. Shout out to Cullen as well, he's took a fair bit of stick (as have all our midfielders tbf) but produced a great performance for 90+ minutes. Good to see Parrott delivering on his potential at last. He seemed to lose his way a bit in London for a few years but the Dutch air seems to have turned him around.

Don't forget that this Ireland team is more than likely better off with 30% possession than with 70% possession. That's often the case in soccer, when you're not quite top notch technically.

Portugal and Ronaldo will be sick as a parrot. Ok, joke. Big big task to beat Hungary now. Personally I don't think it can be done. But we live in hope. I would guess a draw. Far be it for me to tell you what a good Christiann is, however, in my opinion the expression "Christian" comes from the word Christ, as does Christianity and with Christianity comes the commitment to follow Christ, add to that you got to believe in Christ. For the record Protestants are Christians even allowing for that little bit of a difference between them and us RC's. In a nutshell, if you believe in Christ, you will follow him, if you follow him, you are home and dry. As for behaviour, all people are in charge of and responsible for their own behaviour. Went to school with Muslims, Mosque at home. Worked in 2 Halal meat factories. Devout Muslim people at home. Worked with but not too clued in the religiousness of some Jews, Hindus, Sikhs so not sure how devout they were. My grandmother was a good Catholic Donegal woman in the 70s and 80s. Mass every day, cooked and brought meals to less well off people, Legion of Mary. A decent woman who also loved Dev. Made me very aware of the Church but never bullied me about it. Yeah but it was not just that losing in Armenia was perhaps worse, winning that game would have left us just needing a draw. Have we really turned the corner or is this just a one off. I guess we will fin out soon enough.
