Best of luck to the minors playing Derry today. Thanks to the fixtures easily outnumbered here by Derry supporters on their way to the senior match. Our lads will have to do the hard way with an Ulster ref appointed also. Alwaysencourage (Galway) - Posts: 212 - 25/06/2022 12:48:54 2427377 Link 0 |
Team pretty much as expected. They went for height and guile over workrate in the Kelly vs. O Laoi decision. Felt O Laoi was great on breaks in the Mayo game before the black card. Kelly not as mobile but cute enough. Both have their strengths. Bench is interesting. Strong on the forward department. Lads able to get up to the pace of things quickly & able to cover ground needed. Are Tomo or Dessie maybe suited to Croke Park or would Eoin Finnerty be better at winning his own ball? O Laoi, Gallagher, Paul Kelly if workrate is needed. Hard to see what will happen if pne our defenders is struggling. PJs plan might be to bring back Heaney or McDaid and sub in a forward if needed rather than rely on untested backs we have on the bench.. The problem is the legs needed to sustain workrate needed in Croke Park means some players won't last the full 70 minutes. OhReally (Limerick) - Posts: 23 - 25/06/2022 13:33:08 2427383 Link 0 |
Armagh are average as you will see. I'd feel there more improvement to come in Galway. If they can stop messing around with the short kick out they should win. Breffni1969 (Cavan) - Posts: 510 - 25/06/2022 13:41:57 2427385 Link 0 |
Colm is a pundit and a very good one. However he is not Nostradamus. None of us are. We all have opinions. Also some people take offense if a pundit backs against the team they are from. Why? Its only their view. It does nt mean they don't like the county they think will lose. Its all about opinions and we all have one and we all get them wrong sometimes even the bookies. My own opinion is í can't seperate Galway Armagh so ill predict extra time but I'm really looking forward to it. Some really entertaining brilliant footballer on view. Shane Walsh Rian Ó Néill Paul Conroy Jarlaith Óg Burns Damien Comer Stefan Campbell. I can't wait. For me it's the real gem of all the quarters.

Interesting to see foley in match day squad obv been pushing hard and has impressed, I'd be very concerned with Glynn, he hasn't been convincing. Armagh like all ulster teams will be very "in your face" and stuff like that has worked against Walsh in the past. I would have been shouting for Armagh had it not been For their disgusting behaviour on and off the pitch against Donegal jeering and booing ahead of great GAA man in Murphy is not what GAA should be about. Up the west, I'm hoping a derry galway semi and Galway to advance. If you think about that route, potentially getting to an AI without playing Mayo Dublin or Kerry on the way in knockout pj would bite your hand off. Unfortunately for all it's that side that will prevail on the big day, unless Mayo make it, wouldn't know what they'd do Sportsfanatic90 (Westmeath) - Posts: 210 - 25/06/2022 14:12:42 2427391 Link 0 |

Three defeats in the Connacht championship, three heavy defeats at that yet into the All-Ireland final. Those young Galway lads aren't lacking character anyway. Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 3329 - 25/06/2022 14:34:02 2427396 Link 0 |

Super result for the minors and Alan Glynnn, amazing now when many of the critics on here had a very gloomy forecasts on the bank holiday monday evening after the defeat in Castlebar. GDL (Galway) - Posts: 715 - 25/06/2022 14:46:51 2427400 Link 0 |
Well done to the minors today- They have great character and keep coming back and sure they wouldn't be a Galway team without giving their supporters heart attacks in the last 10 mins! Kick-outs and winning possession at midfield have to be improved drastically as well as having a better spread of scorers outside of Costello and Monaghan for the final but they can work on all of that. tommy k (Galway) - Posts: 3305 - 25/06/2022 14:46:53 2427401 Link 2 |
Indeed. What's more, they'll probably now go on and win it!

Congrats to the minor team. I was very critical after Connacht championship but they have really bounced back. Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1824 - 25/06/2022 16:16:21 2427409 Link 1 |
Congratulations to Galway and Mayo minor footballers. Both won hard fought matches. Galways goalkeeper needs to stop kicking the ball out to the opposition. Should be a great All Ireland. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2100 - 25/06/2022 16:44:52 2427417 Link 0 |
I'm sorry if speaking facts and highlighting the character of this young Galway team annoys you. @ahsure yes stranger things has happened. Tough to beat a team twice nevermind 3 times as is the task in front of Mayo now. Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 3329 - 25/06/2022 17:00:23 2427422 Link 0 |

Always have a chance against Mayo in a final. PancakeWard (Galway) - Posts: 86 - 25/06/2022 17:11:19 2427425 Link 0 |
He was a very good player but a good pundit? I think not and the opposite of Nostradamus. Well done to Galway U17s a fine achievement to reach the AI final after some hard lessons handed out in the Connacht championship. 3rd time lucky perhaps against Mayo in the final. Serious character. Super intensity, hand in, blocks, tracking. Seems like a new team. Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1824 - 25/06/2022 18:38:16 2427449 Link 1 |
