Would you's rate your U21 side as good as last two years, you's are certainly coming strong at this grade TheRightStuff (Donegal) - Posts: 1688 - 27/03/2013 18:27:54 1357546 Link 0 |

Yeah, you's had a brill team when we beat you's three years ago, the only difference was Murphy. We were not expecting much at start of year but the work rate we produced V Tyrone was excellent. Again we have a great go-too man in McBearty and the Mchugh's (Ryan and Eoin) look good. It's trciky to know at this age group ( Dublin getting beaten etc). I suppose both of us can't look past our next matches. U21 is such an unknown quantity. Derry will be strong no doubt, hve a sneaky feeling for a Donegal V Cavan final but its premature. Winning at underage obviously does not guarantee success at adult level but it definately does help Slan go Foill TheRightStuff (Donegal) - Posts: 1688 - 27/03/2013 21:04:11 1357680 Link 0 |

I think footballing wise this team is better than previous years. There are better individual footballers on it. However, it terms of team mentality we are not as strong as Terry's teams. I say this because I watched the Hastings cup final when we were cruising and then capitulated in the last 10 minutes to Longford. Also in the Monaghan game we were cruising when we were 5 points up, but then let Monaghan back into the game. We did well to dig out the result in extra time, but home advantage played a big part. Would we have won such a close contest in Clones? Sergeant_Slash (Cavan) - Posts: 2182 - 29/03/2013 12:10:18 1358368 Link 0 |

Agree, I have to bow to the Seargents greater knowlege as I wasent at the Monaghan game. He hit the nail on the head on a lot of points. It seems we do have a lot more strength in depth on the bench than previous years. I think this was our achilles heel when we played Galway in '11 and more so last year against Roscommon in the s/final. Getting the best 15 on the field from the start will be a tricky call but I trust Peter and the mentors. BreffniDub (None) - Posts: 377 - 30/03/2013 11:19:15 1358739 Link 0 |

I wouldn't worry too much about the so called fade out. That was a very good Monaghan team and they were always going to get a decent spell or two. You can't demand a team to be dominant for the entire match. The key thing to focus on is reacting to such a spell and Cavan did that very well. By all accounts Down will be another tough test in a less familiar venue. These are tough games that will be "on the day" as they say. Best of luck to the lads. fredflint (Cavan) - Posts: 1485 - 30/03/2013 12:16:06 1358760 Link 0 |

I dont think Cavan people should underestimate anybody but we have to have confidence in our own ability. Down will be coming in a little bit under the Radar so they are very dangerous. How many Senior players have they playing? BreffniDub (None) - Posts: 377 - 31/03/2013 13:07:06 1359058 Link 0 |

I was talking to a knowledgeable football man from Down who says this is a strong, pacey ,talented but very hardworking Down team, so it will be a very tough encounter by all accounts. celt2018 (Cavan) - Posts: 160 - 31/03/2013 14:35:31 1359083 Link 0 |
