Loughduff Lad

apologies Loughduff lad i see now what you meant. Yes Mullahoran never easy and definately when we get to the business end of things. i was at the group stage game and killygarry went 1-5 to 2 up after 20 odd minutes against Mullahoran only to score 2 points after and lose by a point. i hope its a good game and close

If you were lucky enough to be at Kingspan Breffni Park last night you would have see the total demolition of Castlerahan last night by what has to be the favourites now to win the senior title. Castlerahan had no game plan what so ever kicking long balls into their forwards all evening after doing the donkey work winning the ball in the first place. Castlerahan seem to be void of any other game plan what so ever. Not one last night on this team stood out for a second viewing to be honest.
Kingscourt trained by a Meath man Dudley Farrell were a joy to watch they had composure tactics a 100% game plan and they looked the business. I would go as far to say that should they win the County Final on the 7Th October they should represent Cavan well in Ulster. Picking out individual players is kind of unfair but I expect Kingscourt will not mind when I mention Thomas Wakely Barry Tully Alan Clarke Colm Swith Joe McMahon Phillip Smith Colm Swith Ryan McCormack and man of the match Barry Waters a sub that came on called Sean O'G Gargan looked the part and for the few minuets he was on played well. What I liked about these players in the forward section there was no mefeiner it was lay the ball off to the best available player to score.
Congratulations Kingscourt you have restored some credibility to the senior championship in Cavan and long may it continue.

Sean im sure kingscourt probably looked outstanding last nite. but look at the opposition they were against. castlerathan are not a great side.
it is easy to look brilliant on a night like last night but it will only get tougher from here for kingscourt.in the final and then if/when they reach ulster.
this is when we see how good they really are.
the geals are still the best team in the county in my view they were caught on the hop and if they were still here they would probably win this championship easily as i feel they are better than kingscourt.

You could be right but it was one very good performance by Kingscourt.
Now the gaels I have said since early this year they are not being led by the top they have sadly gone so far back it will be hard for them recover to the heights that they enjoyed over the last 15 years. Take away Eamonn Reilly his brother and his cousin and the Doc the gaels have nothing there. I don't think with what is leading and running Cavan Gales they will ever be a great team again. You have to admit that they lacked anything both from the side line on on the field of play. Respect the opposition for while you don't you will get results like last week mosts times.
Reminds me of Cavan V Waterford several years back when players took it for granted they would hammer them but the rest is history.

Was at the game last night, Kingscourt were the only team who could play football. They spread the ball around nicely and used the space well. Castlerahan were brutal it must be said, no heart or fight in them. Barry Reilly was played at FF for the stars, I don't know if he was 100% fit. He kicked some nice 45's in the first half and won his fair share of ball. Joe Dillon was at midfield, took the wrong option a lot of the time but put in a solid amount of work.

Kingsocurt should go on and win it now, they have the talent and they can play a bit

Mullahoran 05
Killygarry 1.1
Half time
Very poor game. Small crowd. Should have scheduled the lacken and mullahoran games straight after each other.

Mullahoran beat Killygarry by 0-14 to 1-9. Kingscourt Mullahoran final.

After been at both semi's, it is clear that there will only be one winner in the final in 3 weeks time. Mullahoran simply won't be able to cope with kingscourt powerful running game. They were unstoppable at times last night. Very impressed with them as good as of a performance i have witnessed in a long time. Mullahoran have done well to get this far but if they keep it under ten points they'll have done well. There appears to be a new force in cavan football after the gaels dominance. I can see a new dynasty beginning for the east cavan men, who knows where it will take them? Ulster ? Croke park next march?

awh here, talk about completely losing the run of yourself Kingscourt in an AI final on Paddy's Day in Croker get real will ye! Probably be bet in the first round of Ulster, Tyrone football is a hell of a lot stronger than Cavan football.

have to agree with Lifebouy on this one, Saying Kingscourt will beat Mullahourn by 10+ is ridiculous but saying Kingscourt could end up in an Ireland final is just plain silly, dont get me wrong i'd love to see it happen and i will support which ever team ends up in Ulster be it Mullahourn or Kingscourt but there is more chance of Cavan winning Sam in 2013 then there is of a Cavan club winning a club all ireland..

poor display from Killygarry, old failings came back to haunt them, inability to perform for the 60 minutes, only played for about 15 minutes throughout. Mullahoran were better side, but with the game hanging in the balance with 10 minutes remaining, two huge decision swung the game in Mullahoran's favour. Enda O'Reilly's point was clearly wide and from the kickout Eddie won a 14 yard free for what can only be described as an elaborate dive. massive 2point swing with 10 minutes remaining. Still, Killygarry gracious in defeat, Mullahoran were better side.

So we have our finalists now.
First game was not as tight as i expected. Ballyjamesduff men were just no match for Kingscourt who had multiple players able to manufacture & take their own scores. Why did they play so negative ? Only scored 1-6, the goal being a consolation score near the end. Semi finals are there for the team who wants it most, Castlerahan were just too negative, sat back & yet again bottled it.

Mullahoran did enough in the end & could have been caught by that last chance at the end, would of been unfair though as they didn't deserve it. Mullahoran hit the post & cross bar with goal chances. They are dogged, play it direct & won alot of frees, some which were a bit soft i must say. Killygary did not have enough forwards capable of scoring & were snuffed out with poor distribution. Full back did well on Donal Thomas, alot of aimless high balls kicked in though. Paul the Gunner played well & is probably their main threat & link up player between the backs & full forward line. Phillip Brady is a handful.

Breffni was in fine nick as usual again.

Its going to be a good final. Two traditional teams with lots of history.
Who will win the jersey toss ?
What is Mullahorans alternative jersey, never seen it before ? (enlighten me Loughduff lad)
Will Maggie Farrelly be the lady in the middle whistling, be a first for a female to ref a county senior champo final ?
3 weeks, 2 teams, 1 trophy - Oliver Plunkett is waiting.
Who's name will be inscribed onto the trophy ?

Jobless, you are correct but you will notice Killygarry made no issue about that point that was clearly signalled wide by the goal umpire who was the nearest person to the flight of the ball. I could see it was clearly wide a crazy decision by the point umpire. You will see that there was a second wide that was also given as a point. The free well Kelly fell for was clearly a massive dive and destroyed any hopes Killygarry had. The last kick should of at least have been a chance of a replay with an easy free for a point and not have to try and get a goal from it, total shambles once again. If you are going to do the job please do it right if not stay away. I am a neutral and I am fuming at what happened but great respect to Killygarry they took it on the chin.
The county final is Kingscourt's to loose.

A lot of nonsense being talked here in the last number of posts. Let's just get a few things straight.

1. The Gaels are NOT still the best team in the county, if they were they would still be in the championship.
2. Neither are they finished or gone for years, they'll be back in the hunt next year.
3. Kingscourt will not win the final by 10 pts or anything approaching it.
4. Neither will they be in Croke Park in March unless as spectators.
5. No "huge decisions' had any bearing on the result last night, Killygarry were 2nd best all game and were lucky to be still in it late on.
6. Castlerahan are not a good young team who will win a championship in the next few years, they are a poor team who are more likely to be relegated to intermediate than win a senior championship.

That is all.

Castlerahan

probably the best bunch of forwards in the county & they tried playing Donegal style . It worked alright but when they looked up they had nobody to pass it too. My god how stupid did ye look on sat nite. I love these systems that allow forwards to hide in the half back line. man up and go forward & shoot. pathetic

killygarry were 2nd best for 50 minutes of the game and were very lucky to be still in it with 10 minutes remaining, no argument, but the fact is that they were in the game with 10 minutes remaining, deservingly or not. They had scored the last 3 scores, Mullahoran were rattled, and reacted by bringing in a double substitution, the game was there to be won by either side and them two decisions helped swing it Mullahoran's way. best team won but these breaks decide games

Kingscourt should run worthy winners against mullahoran, they are a far superior side.
They are far physically stronger than mullahoran and are very fit, Mullahoran will be well up
for this final but after seeing them run of of steam against killygary, i think Kingscourt
will punish this.

bet mullahorn by 12 points in the semis three years ago.

For 3 years now I've been listening to the hype about Castlerahan, great young team, future champions etc. and for 3 years I've gone in to Breffni Park to see them tamely exit the race with barely a whimper. It's not the fact they lose, after all only one team can win it every year, but the manner of the defeats, abject capitulation on all 3 occasions, that makes me think they're never going to have what it takes to get over the line.
