Was at the game yesterday as a nephew of mine was playing for Cootehill and i drink there the occassional weekend and would get on with most of the boys. I feel a draw was probably a fair result in the end but after discussing the game with my nephew this morning i'm astounded at what he told me,apparently when the linesman went over to the ref and told him about young sherlock striking out he also told the ref Trevor Crowe swung a punch. How in gods name was he not then sent off?I felt Crowes challenge at the end wasn't actually as dangerous as people were making out,as someone mentioned above it was made look worse due to young o connors quick turning when crowe went in for the challenge,o connors nose is apparently broke in 2 places because of it which is a shame as he and Tom hayes were very dangerous when given the ball yesterday.

My 2 bobs worth of the game was Lacken owned the 1st half and Cootehill owned the 2nd,Lacken had the Cootehill side sussed out big time,Dean Connolly was as quiet as i've ever seen him,Mc Kiernan ran riot on him in the 1st half,Ray Galligan and Barry mc gahan had a great battle throughout, galligan was owning him for the 1st 20 minutes or so but then barry got to grips with him.In the 1st half Cootehill were very ponderous on the ball and gave Lacken a chance to filter men back and decline cootehillls pacey forwards any room.Trevor Crowe had a great game though he was stretching the rules at times with his actions.
In the 2nd half Cootehill were excellent,Joshua hayes won a ball early in the 2nd half that he had no right to get which signalled the turning of the tidesJohn Mc Cutcheon was a colossus and Enda Hessin was a joy to watch, how Dermot Mc Cabe dropped him off the county minor panel last year i will never know. Once Cootehill moved the ball quickly they looked the better side,i also felt Colm Smith(i presume thats the sub everyones on about) was a great addition and went through some serious donkey work,i remember 4 or 5 years ago he was an outstanding young prospect.

Lacken showed plenty of cute hoorism yesterday, moving the ball a number of times before the penalty was kicked to try psyche out young Hessin and then Mouthing to Mullen when he was taking his free at the end.On a side note Tom hayes got Punched during the scuffle at penalty time and when he went down a Lacken hand reached down and tried lift him by the head of hair-very gentleman like.

I was in Boylesports this evening and was quoted odds of 9/4 for Cootehill to win, i feel thats an out standing price as i would've had both teams around evens so had a sneaky 50 on them :) Roll on next weekend!

I think if Cootehill start better I think they will prevail. Lacken were out on their feet with 20mins to go. Half the team was going down with cramp. Cootehill I feel will have learned alot more from the game than lacken and I think Cootehill can turn the gas on whenever they want. My prediction Cootehill 1-9 Lacken 0-9.

I would say that the referee will now be aware of what went on yesterday and should keep control of proceedings. I wonder will that Cootehill lad be able to play with a broken nose I wonder.

agree totaly with view cootehill robbed, tom hayes punched to the ground, dragged by the hair and had a boot drawn on him on the ground, other corner forward face smashed in a tackle. The lacken no 13 ran riot for first 20 mins and put the cootehill defense under serious pressure but once cootehill managment copped on and made changes very slow to do it mind, that was the end of the road and they had to resort to trying to bully and intimidate the very nifty cootehill forwards who were a serious threat every ball they got. cant understand why cootehill managment dont play more direct football to them 3 young fellas up front. mc cotcheon was very strong at midfield and got some vital scores with hayes and mcgahann solid down the middle once the lacken no 13 was picked up by carney hayes turned the game for cootehill on the line a goal at that point would have killed the game

I think the game the next day will be a triller but yet I think coothill have missed the boat..like they had the chance to win it but couldn't cope with the pressure and I certainly think there chance is gone.i also see lots of posts about this young Tom Hayes??could any1 inform me if he was playing yesterday because I don't think I seen much of him..lackens corner back did a super job on him and from talking to lacken supporters after the match I was informed that it was his first ever championship game..in my opinion coothill won the mid field battle with John mc c playing a stormer.he's a real workhorse and a great leader in this coothill team..while saying this lacken should have had the game finished by half time with the number of goal chances they missed.
