Why not allow this game to replayed as a curtain raiser to the Leinster Final. Would give both teams time to prepare and play in Croke Park on a fitting occasion.

Donard dont have a junior hurling team but if they did they would probably be the best junior hurling team in Wicklow. Lol Typo should have said Glenealy

Replying To Administrator:  "From this morning the individual forums in all bar two counties have been retired. The majority of discussion will be in one place, through the national forum where any topics can be discussed. There has been a growing trend towards this in recent years and with all messages individually moderated, it allows us to focus our resources more efficiently. It's a big change, but where would the GAA world be without amalgamations?"
Totally insane crap idea

The footballers really brought the day up for me yesterday after our terrible result in the hurling. Lads will learn a lot from this game and ones like it. i think manager has got something happening and think we will have better days.

Best of luck tomorrow against Roscommon. I see Offaly and Sligo have given walkovers. I hope people dont think this diminishes the achievement if Wicklow go on and lift the cup.

Very good to get the win away in donegal but some things are not good. we give away too many frees and one or two experienced players who are sloppy and don't have the legss any more are very responsible. our puk outs are still very poor and we need to do a lot of work on that area. Andys back is a bonus but he needs a lot of catching up and he done ok yesterday but is long way off the player he was. Once again some of the older established players not up to the level and one player who is not that long coming back from injury is not at the races all year went off yesterday. Great service over the years but sadly looking like his last outing for a while.he could be joined by one or 2 more sadly. Wicklow used to have a good record over the years in hurling but we have slipped a long way down. we won't be relegated in the league because warwickshire and donegal are below us but we are not good enough to win anything this year. building a new team is not easy but some good young lads coming and the guys who got the goals will be there. hopefully they will and we can see better days. i don't see any hope for us in the games left in the league but we need to try our young players and give them experience.

Replying To sponger:  "Terrible campaign. Need to find a management team that can get the best out of what we have for next year."
Have to say that I could not agree with your sentiments at all. This is a good management team who are getting the very best out of our players. We are not a 2A team and that is not the fault of management. Any of the players would tell you that the training and coaching sessions are extremely professional. Don't blame managers when we don't have the players.

Tier 1 hurling is a long long way off for a county with such a small and limited player pool. We might get to division 2A in a few years and will need a lot of luck and skill to stay there. Saying that it is brilliant to see the spirit yesterday but we were really in trouble if Mayo had taken there chances. They had so many scoreing chances that went wide and we were a mess. Bringing on some of the subs that we had won this game for wicklow. and it is plain to see that some of the starting team are not up to this level. We will have a difficult time whit meath and i dont think we can really expect a team in transitioning to compete with them. This is a good year for building for the future. I am told mikiey lea is not on the panel and this is a shame as we really need some better forwards. Dannie Staunton was a big miss for us yesterday hope he gets better soon. So far so good and we have important points in the bag . So dont think relegation will be a problem

Unbelievable: Next Saturday the young men of the Wicklow Under 21 Hurling team take to the field in simple stadium at 1pm. Our County Board have fixed 2 games in Senior Football championship for 4.40pm and 6pm in Aughrim. What to living hell is going on in this county. No wonder we are in this shambolic state when we have such a lack of leadership. If this is what we get then John Evans would be better managing Bray Wanderers. Come on out of it mr county chairman step in and put this right for once.

Replying To sponger:  "Good points made above. is it a case of not squeezing the best out of what we have ??"
Talking to players and officials I think this management are getting every ounce from the squad. Our problem is that we have not been able to replace the players we lost over the last 10 years. I fear we are looking at a decline that will see us back in the pack with no likely chance to get back to 2A any time soon.

A win is a win but a definate need to come up with a much improved performance next day out. I'm not full of confidence and think that the players who retired this year were too big to lose. I hope the lads prove me completely wrong but I don't think we are in a good place.

Great start to the year with 2 very impressive high scoring wins. Big numbers training and some big names back in the fold. I know Keogh cup is really weak level but you can only play what is in front of you. Looking good to start the year with some silver. Also looking good to gain promotion and win Christy Ring Cup.

Replying To wicklowsupport:  "The disconnect already exists; it is never discussed openly but it is there under the surface. The GAA are sell out the club players and players in the weaker counties which is why they are being accused of turning into an elite organisation that only worries about a few at the top of each code. This has happened in both soccer and rugby with devastating effect at club further down the pyramid, the difference is that these are professional sports where money is king. I think the fact that carlow hurlers were relegated after having a decent run in leinster this year while Waterford who were abject in Munster championship weren't treat the same indicates elitism as oppose to a meritocracy which uses results and performance to judge relegation. Unless there is a sea change, the disconnect will only grow wider in my opinion."
As I see this it is a spiral that is now almost unstoppable. You can see the smaller and smaller crowds at County matches at all levels. At club level there are les and less players interested of putting in the effort to be insulted with random fixtures that are either a glut of games or not enough games that get changed at the drop of a hat or are fixed for mad times like Sunday evenings or Wednesdays nights with lads away in college or working. Another sham as I see it will be the second tier championship that will drag out the year for the likes of Wicklow for no reason at all because this will be treated the way the christy Ring is. No publicity, no Sunday game, shoved in a corner bu GAA HQ. Ignored and played off for crap. What were out leadership doing proposing this nonsense. Trying to be the best boys in the class as usual.
