Limerick captain Declan Hannon said having 82,000 people back in Croke Park for this year’s All-Ireland final was special for the Treaty men.
Covid-19 restrictions saw John Kiely’s men winning the Liam McCarthy Cup inside an empty stadium in the capital in 2020, while the following year’s triumph over Cork saw headquarters at half capacity.
It made this past July’s thrilling victory over Kilkenny all the more special, according to the Adare clubman.
“It was so special to have 82,000 people back in Croke Park again,” Hannon told GAA.ie.
“We saw 2020 when there was nobody there at all, you were after winning an All-Ireland final, getting on the train home just going home to your own house, that was it. There was nothing else to it.
“In 2021 you had half capacity and this year back to full capacity. It was fantastic to see the amount of green and white in Croke Park in July.
“It was amazing, people were only mad to get back, to support the team. It was very special, especially for our friends and family, to be able to get in there to soak up that atmosphere, and to enjoy the occasion.”
