Dublin v Mayo. Who will win the 2017 All Ireland football final? - 5 Like(s)
Is anyone else getting fed up with Cillian O'Connors antics? Every time the ref took out the book for a Mayo player O'Connor was in on top of him soft talking him patting him on the arm. I didn't see Cluxton coming running out every time the book was produced to a Dublin player to chat to Joe McQuillan. Every game this year he's been at it trying to influence referees. He'd be more in his line concentrating on his own game than getting involved in that carry on.

Falling Football Attendances - 5 Like(s)
And the solution? A price increase HAHAHAHAHA. The Leinster football final 2017 66,734, 2018 it was just 41,728. A whopping 37% drop. The over investment in the 00's in Dublin football to bring them back to a prosperous state has backfired, majorly. A lot of Dublin supporters are not bothered about Dublin now because they are whitewashing the opposition. Who wants to fork out money on tickets, travel, food only to watch a completely lobsided game. Exactly, nobody!

Replying To Cuckoosinging:  "All ulterior lads think they have hardest strongest most competitive province but three Connacht teams in the last 8 and we seen tonight what the second strongest team in Connacht did to one of the best in Ulster. Well done Galway"
How many Connacht teams have won the all Ireland in the last 15 years? None.

Mayo vs Roscommon - 4 Like(s)

Replying To cluichethar:  "Black card has to go The refs have no idea when to use it Roscommon should have 2 in the first half and 1 in the second AOS had a bad game compounded by the refs refusal to give him frees when he's been mugged But wouldn't expect anything else from McQuillan Any idea on the replay date and venue"
What about Cillian O Connor "shouldering" a Roscommon player to the head? Or the free that should never have been where Cillian tried to pull back the defender who cleared the ball and when they tangled up Cillian falls to the ground getting a soft free? Or in the first half when he struck Niall McInerney on the side of the head after the ball was played away by McInerney? Your very quick to point out when your wronged, but Mayo, and particularly Cillian gets away with a lot of petty s*#te off the ball.

Cillian O'Connor has turned into a hatchet man the past 2 seasons. Worries more about the movement of opposition defenders off the ball now than his own game.

Replying To Paddyfla19:  "Absolutely shocking, if this is true. The bottom of the barrel stuff. Leahy, Mangan, Coffey I'm sure would be interested if approached. At lest they have achieved something as managers and there locals. The two mentioned would no influence to many lads back next year. Our county poor have once again let our team down."
I think its time now the players stood up and start making demands for what they want and need. Why go for 2 candidates from outside who have poor records and who know nothing of the Westmeath setup. Jack Cooney, Alan Mangan, Martin Flanagan, Tom Coffey, Eammon Gallagher, John Keane, Peter Leahy, so many from within and we go out and scrape the bottom of the barrel. Its a disgrace.

O'Byrne Cup 2017 - 2 Like(s)

Replying To Wmeath2:  "James Dolan 2 goal possibly saving Cribbins job. Losing against Louth and 14 man Carlow in 4 days would have been a disaster, O'byrne cup or not!!!"
To suggest if we lost 2 games in a row in the O'Byrne cup would have cost Cribbin his job is laughable. The O'Byrne cup is a preseason cobweb blowing exercise where managers try out new players. Would Jim Gavin lose his job if Dublin lost 2 games in it?? I never heard such trash

Total Injustice! - 2 Like(s)
What rubbish, if people want to get technical, AOS was lucky not to have been black carded 30 seconds into second half. Cillian O'Connor was constantly trying to obstruct Dublin players running forward off the ball and when the chips were down he chocked, as he did in several games this year (he had chances to put Roscommon away the first day, missed easy ones against Derry and Cork that nearly cost them). If Vaughan used his brain at all he'd have realised the Dublin player was about to walk, Mayo had a free and were going to be 15 on 14. Mayo have become so obsessed with how to stop Dublin that they have lost sight of what needs to be done to go and win the game.

Kerry v Mayo - 2 Like(s)

Replying To ponga:  "A lot of talk about cards, sledging and so on but the big decision was not to award a penalty to Mayo in the 1st half."
The decision was also not to black card Vaughan for a blatant hand trip but you bury your head in the sand. Mayo have 15 angels on the field at all times, apparently.

Dublin v Mayo. Who will win the 2017 All Ireland football final? - 2 Like(s)

Replying To TheFlaker:  "This rubbish again from both fans, only seeing what they want to see. McMahon and Cooper should have walked for their constant fouling off the ball if that's the case. Keegan is such an easy target it's a joke at this stage. He puts the best players in the country in his pocket and the only thing people from the opposing county can say is constantly fouling. He isn't, and you are lying if you say that statement. You can't constantly foul throughout a game in a position that he plays. Same rubbish was said last year. I watched them closely on Sunday as I did last year when he marked Connolly. He literally stands so close to them no matter where they run they aren't even a short handpass option. Does he foul them during the game. Yep probably 3 or 4 times. Same as they do to him. People only see what they want to see."
Wow rubbish from both sets of supporters yet what you seen and didn't see is gospel? What about AOS 30 seconds into second half? Black card all day. Cillian O'Connor constantly body checking Dublin players off the ball trying to stop their runs, and constantly badgering the referee, at one stage the ref had to tell him to shut up and go away. Mayo players are all angels in your eyes and the Dublin players are cynical. Is that it? That's your slant?

Football Squad 2019. - 2 Like(s)

Replying To Paddyfla19:  "Agree with Mick, we have this in the bag. When u see Kildare and Meath operating in division 2 and would be behind us in quality and achievements over the last 4,5 years we have to be confident. Most of these lads have played in 2 or 3 Leinster finals already along with winning a national league medal already o Byrne cup onwards and upwards"
Meath and Kildare behind us in quality? I'd like a drink of what you're taking. Kildare made the super 8's last season, we didn't get past round 1 of the qualifiers. Meath are top of a strong Div2, while we are second in a mediocre Div3. Meath are after making huge strides forward this year and are about to gain promotion to Division 1 for the first time in 13 seasons. When we take teams for granted we fall. We took Louth for granted in 2010 and lost, we have a mixed record since then with them. In the past we have taken teams like Clare, Tipperary and Antrim for granted and lost! Longford comfortably disposed of us last year. It is far from 'In the bag' as you put it. Are we in a good position, yes. But being cocky never got us anywhere in the past.

Why Are We Changing Our Game?! - 2 Like(s)
From what I saw, the handpass rule is actually going to have a negative effect. Carlow V Westmeath at the weekend on several occasions going forward both teams made handpasses and when there was no opening there was a big long footpass backwards up the field and the ball recycled again when another 1 or 2 handpasses may have created openings for scoring opportunities. I feel this will actually result in lower scoring games.

CPA - A Serious Question - 2 Like(s)
A solution? Make intercounty players professional and exclusive to the county game. Let the club players get on with it. Not fair to club players to be waiting on county players to play games. The club players are the majority here not the elite inter county players.

Does anyone know if the poor performance of underage teams was discussed at the last 2 county board meetings? Or if any new strategies are going to be explored to come up with a county wide underage development plan?? Seems like underage performances are being completely ignored and swept under the carpet every year.

Moorefield v St Loman's - 1 Like(s)

Replying To Ibbecek:  "The second best (after Croker) playing pitch in Leinster lying idle today. Field of green (not white). Pairc Tailteann nearer to both Newbridge and Mullingar. Meath matches going ahead no problem."
Navan being playable was irrelevant, why would you make players, players families, and club supporters travel from Mullingar and surrounding areas which was under a blanket of snow. The right call was made, if someone was killed in an accident on what is already a dangerous road from Mullingar to Kells, would it have been worth it?? The bigger question is why the Leinster championship couldn't be over by the last week of November.
