Westmeath GAA will vote in favour of Proposal B at tomorrow week’s Special Congress, according to chairman Frank Mescall.

All three of the Lake County’s delegates have been mandated by the clubs to back the league-based championship model on October 23rd.

The county’s senior football squad also informed county board executives that they were in favour of Proposal B ahead of last Wednesday night’s meeting of the county executive.

“Our three votes will be going in favour of Option B. That’s what we have decide,” Mescall told The42.ie.

He added: “The need for change, the provincial system has got a bit dated and it’s not as equitable as we would like, and it provides a greater number of games for the counties, for our players as well.”
