Former Munster rugby academy and Ireland U20 player Alan Tynan has joined the Tipperary senior hurling squad ahead of the 2021 Alllianz League campaign.

The Roscrea-Inane Rovers clubman left Munster last summer after spending four years as part of the academy and was one of Ireland's star performers at the 2017 U20 World Cup in Georgia.

Tynan represented the Tipperary hurlers and footballers at minor level and combined both codes when they reached the All-Ireland finals in 2015 before opting to pursue a career in rugby.

He caught the eye of Tipp manager Liam Sheedy when playing in attack for Roscrea in the Tipperary SHC last year and is preferred to All-Ireland U20HC winner Conor Bowe who has now linked up with the county senior football set-up.
