Gearoid Hegarty delivered one of the greatest individual performances in an All-Ireland SHC final against Kilkenny this afternoon.
The St Patrick's powerhouse is very much a man for the big occasion, collecting his second All-Ireland final man-of-the-match award after helping himself to 1-5 in a flawless display as Limerick clinched their fourth Liam MacCarthy Cup title in the space of five years.
Hegarty's brilliant goal set the tone for a rip-roaring contest at Croke Park but the point he scored from inside his own 65-yard line to put his side four up in injury-time was spectacular.

Kilkenny duo Billy Ryan and Martin Keoghan were also on fire in the second-half with a brace of goals which really ignited their challenge.
