Peter Harte puts Errigal through to a repeat final with Trillick in Tyrone championship. Could this be the first year since 2005 that a team wins two in a row?

Looking at the national picture I doubt that the Dublin champions will be contenders to win All Ireland. Crokes surviving somewhat on muscle memory and while they won a messy enough semi v Na Fianna who are addicted to the self-destruct button every time, they are not as good as they were.

I fancy Cuala to make a right go of the final but Croke's street smarts and a good day from Mannion, Rory and Walsh and they probably survive again.

It's said club football is a more honest game and it's true, Leitrim and Carlow served up a draw in their respective County finals.
There was quiet a few one or two point close encounters across the country as well, so yes club football is a more honest game with lots of traditional skills on view.

Its a mixed bag though. Of the two Dublin semi finals, one was very open, albeit eventually ending one-sided, while the other was as dour an affair as you will ever see, That was the more exciting and there was plenty to watch off the ball as well as on!

As a neutral I prefer the latter I have to say, and there have some very good close matches shown on TG4 from other counties.

Always fascinates me the way the Kerry senior championship works.

It is a mixed bag. Some club games are terrible, very low scoring. Club championships are in need of the new rule changes as well.

I agree it's a mixed bag, and not all club games get a round of applause so to speak, however I believe set backs or poor performances from most clubs across are usually temporary, most clubs can put in temporary fixes and / or running adjustments than a lot of intercountys can. Club fixes get a more honest response hence a game changing result.
Club football is not as complexed or demanding as intercounty football, ie
County finals / Provencial finals / All Ireland final.
Intercounty has a much bigger mix in every sense of the word. I suppose this has all been debated before, I would prefer to watch a mediocre club game to that of a mediocre intercounty game, I agree in advance that not all gaa people would support my view.

Well one of reasons club games are often better viewing, including in Dublin, is that there is a bit of edge there that is not present when better county teams play lower ranked.

Great crack watching lads who have soldiered with one another at county hopping off one another and worse in club games!

To me the hearthbeath of gaelic football lives within the club. I'm working off my phone so I'll try and keep it to the minimum.
I have scanned across recent club results and this is a sample of what I found.
Carlow. Co final.
Pal. 2-07 R'villy. 1-10
Cavan.
Ramor. 2-10 Gowna. 1-11.
Cork.
Neo Rangers. 0-19 Clonakilty. 2-13
Dublin.
Kilmacud. 1-12 Na Fianna. 0-12
Leitrim. SFC Final.
Ballinamore. 1-11 Mohill. 0-14.
Mayo.
Ballina. 1-18 Ballaghadreen. 2-18 AET.
Monghan.
Ballybay Pearse Bros. 0-19
Latton O'Rahillys 1-15 AET.

These are all club football games that were won or lost by the kick of a ball. My point being the hearthbeath of gaelic football is within the club.
My apologies to other counties I failed to post their results that were near misses, a draw or a win.
The results I posted were either a draw match or won or lost by the kick of a ball.
Unfortunately I'm for now working off my phone not easy when I'm all thumbs.

The Kerry Senior County Championship semi-finals take place this weekend. Dr. Crokes v St. Brendan's on Saturday and East Kerry v Dingle on Sunday. Dr. Crokes beat Dingle in the Senior Club final at the start of September. Hopefully two cracking semi-finals this weekend.
Ballinamore take on Mohill in the Leitrim final replay. A quick turnaround of six days!

Perhaps you sportingly forgot to mention that Rathvilly take on Carlow in the Carlow final replay with the same turnaround of six days.
No harm done as it is what it is.
