Are you having a laugh. Tell me you weren't in Thurles last year without telling me you weren't in Thurles.
Home advantage is huge in pretty much every team sport and to say otherwise is ridiculous.

It didn`t affect the result last week but Sean stack was very harsh on us and the free count was 10/3 at half time including two throw balls. The overall free count was 16/8 against us. Compare that to the game v Galway at home last year when we benefitted from some decisions.
In Thurles last year v Clare, we did not get a free for 25 minutes. Again it does not affect the result but there are times in games when you need to catch a break and it is surely easier to get one at home with the crowd in your favour.
While talking about decisions, there has been alot of talk about the head high tackle by Seamus Flanagan. The tackle on Oisin Foley by Mannion was a cheap shot and pretty much put him out of the game.

Replying To ExiledInWex: "You are 100% right on that one. That crowd gave Clare the boost Wexford's paltry few thousand could not. It is not much further from much of Clare to Thurles than from Wexford yet 1 turned up and the other didn't. The crowd are worth a few scores to any team, and if nothing else unsettles the opposition if it is vocal. Wexford fans only turn out for the big day and then proclaim themselves as "bringing great colour". That's how I see it." Has long been a bugbear of mine that a certain type of "supporter" loves to feed the notion that Wexford people are always great supporters of the team, when the reality is anything but.
We've a huge crowd of people who like to go on a big day out to Croke Park, but who won't go anywhere else. That was proven again last year, when so few made the trip to Thurles.
Even the Croke Park crowd isn't as great as many of them think. I remember seeing videos etc. on social media of huge crowds of these "great" Wexford supporters outside the stadium just ahead of the 2019 senior final, and comments underneath saying how "great" they were. None of these "great" supporters had bothered their asses going a few hours earlier, to see our minors playing (and winning) a Leinster Final too.

Yeah i agree and disagree, its the same in every county.
There is a bandwagon element with every crowd who will only go to croker but i think thats its a little unfair to say wont go anywhere else, particularly in reference to last years game against Clare
The reason i say that is i absolutely hate going to Thurles to a game and know loads of people who feel the same but i hate the the trip, its a horrible journey by road from Wexford to Thurles. Crap windy road for the entirety of the journey followed by getting to Thurles with literally one road into it for wexford traffic. Genuinely i still go but god i hate that road to Thurles. I even preferred the trip to Galway last weekend than the trip to Thurles, Salthill being as awkward as it is to get in and out of.
Throw in the fact you literally cannot get to Thurles any other way other than drive compared to say Dublin for a game
Compared to other counties journey there, Clare, Cork, Dublin, Limerick all availing of a motorway for the majority of the journey, even waterford has better journey there, Kilkenny etc. And lets be honest apart from Semple itself Thurles is a bit of a ;;;;;;
Thurles has always been like that for me so i can kinda understand it or maybe the fact that we dont have a great record there is a factor too but god i hate going to Thurles to a game

Coming back from Salthill I had the feeling we were nearly home as we ate McDonald's at 10pm in Kilkenny. We still had over an hour to go til we were home.

Not every game but on many occasions I ve seen them throw in the towel . I m following wexford for longer than I care to remember and have seen some great days and some poor days . Aside from leinster final winning days especially 96 the best game we played and all ireland final poor enough game but the win will last forever in the memory . The one game that stands out was the day we played clare in 2014 in Ennis I do believe that was the turning point for this generation just to see the shock on the clare supporters faces was sometning to behold all be it for 25mins until their comeback a little more belief within our lads that day we d gave come away with a huge scalp in their own backyard unfortunately that team are now coming to their natural end or already gone I only hope the newer crop will stand up to the plate now. Wins in qualifier v Limerick croke park and waterford nowlan Park the years elude me the latter of which was prib the best atmosphere I ve experienced on a hot summers day I killkenny . Really good days are seldom and cherished something the hurling community in other counties take for granted . Where we in Wexford our hearts ache for . The 80s were the most heartbreaking on so many big days in croker 93 the one that got away imo. At present we are not dancing at the crossroads we are standing at one . I know the road I d like them to take and where we don't have much solo influence . But we as wexford hurling can get behind the team in our droves this Saturday maybe then the team, management, backroom team, co board, and anyone else involved might just realise what it all means to us . And if we are not good enough then so be it but we fight until we have nothing left to give . As to me anyway the alternative just is nt an acceptable option . We are Wexford we will always be Wexford and we will always look to the future with optimism and hope wexford supporters are special people let's not go down the road of instant success and deflation and heads rolling for abject performances . We cheer every score we cheer every hook ,block, catch ,save, score saving tackle because each and every one of them are victories in themselves. Up Wexford . Now and always" Fantastic post.
Limerick was 01, Rory Mccarthy goals was unreal. 2 penalties for fitzy.
Waterford was 03 with Larry Murphy coming off the bench to give an exhibition before we scrapped past Antrim and drew with Cork in the greatest game I've ever seen.

You need to define great supporters. We have a massive bandwagon.
We also have a small core following that I think is the best in the country.
There's a reason we've so many posts on this and it's not even round 2 of the championship
We all remember the great days, my personal favourite is quite meager. Tiny crowd in Croke Park for meylers team facing tipp. Kilkenny had destroyed us in the leinster final and tipp were expected to do the same.
We won. And we played well. There was only about a thousand of us in the lower Cusack and fitzy came over shouting at the end. We gave them a standing ovation and lads were crying and everything. It was incredibly moving, that was the real wexford.

I probably know not only every Dublin hurling supporter by sight or name, but a fair few Wexford, Antrim. Kilkenny, Laois fellas too from seeing them standing in the peeing rain and wind wondering why we might not have done something better with our lives :-)

But consider that maybe 15,000 to 20,000 would have gone to see Wexford v Clare in Croke Park, and probably no more than 3,000 to 4,000 went to the same match in Thurles. That's a drop-off in the region of 75 to 80%. I'd venture that no more than 25 or 30% would be reasonable if we really were such "great" supporters.

tearintom, it is more than Thurles is a dump, Semple is too. I remember the scrum to get in to the jacks last year and my youngest nearly being squashed on the way in due to it being a scrum with 1 way in and 1 way out of this tiny toilet. It was the smallest toilet I have ever seen to facilitiate thousands of people and I cannot comprehend what people love so much about the place, or what a nightmare it must be like on Munster final day with thousands more. It was a horrible experience for the paying punter. Even if they put a few portaloos in it would be better than that was. Meanwhile, an hour down the road the GAA built a monstrosity of a white elephant which will never get used only if Ed Sheeran or Gareth Brooks come back. Right stadium, wrong place. As for Thurles itself, well the few hours I spent there over the years were enough. The longest I want to spend there is how long it takes me to get out of it. But that all said, sometimes you have to make an effort to support your team. As a Tottenham fan I go to some games and often marvel when I hear about people who were away in Liverpool or Manchester on a Tuesday night and got home to London at 2am. Its not always easy supporting these teams!

I posted last week that i hoped Rory O Connor would be played close to goal and again we send him out as a sweeper in the second half just to keep the score down. Our problems started for 2019 All Ireland loss . It has been a slog ever since . How in gods name we keep playing a sweeper and not trust or coach our players properly . What is Willie Cleary roll or is he just another yes man on the line. Its a joke at the moment . We are and will continue to suffer big time from Davy super game plan over for 5 years . Between the Clare man and now our Tipperary man in charge our hurling team we will be left in some mess . Best of luck Saturday lads. My FULL fORWARD LINE TO BEAT ANTRIM playing as a full forward line close to goal.
NO 13 Rory o Connor NO 14 Conor Mcdonald NO 15 Mikey Dwyer
