Luke Douglas and Billy Birmingham gave Ballivor an early lead before Cathal McCormack opened Dunshaughlin’s account. Soon after Shay Diggans was in for the winners first goal and with five minutes left in the half Ballivor led 1-7 to 0-2 thanks to fine scores from Douglas (3), Killian Canavan and Noah Doyle. Evan O’Connor and a two pointer from Colm Keane kept Dunshaughlin in the game as the teams went to the half time huddle.
A different Dunshaughlin appeared in the opening ten minutes of the second half. O’Connor had the ball in the Ballivor net after three minutes, Cormac Dowling added a brilliant two pointer and substitute Trevor Dowd gave them the lead. A shell shocked Ballivor refused to crumble and worked themselves back into the game. Between the 10th and 20th minute they outscored the Black and Ambers 0-6 to 0-0 to wrestle back a firm grip on proceedings. With five minutes remaining Douglas was in for their second goal and the title was on its way to the men in Maroon.
After the game Thelma Byrne presented the Division 8 FL cup to captain Gary Sherrock.
