Trim's Mark Dempsey with Niall Maloney O'Mahonys during the Meath Premier Division 7 final at Pairc Tailteann

Fielding a team with senior experience in both codes including county minor footballer from 2002, Frankie Murphy, Trim were too good for O'Mahonys in the Premier Football Division 7 final at Pairc Tailteann early on Sunday afternoon.

Trim ................ 2-8
O'Mahonys .......0-5

It was a close contest through most of the opening half, but a brace of points in the run-in to half-time earned Fergal Lynch's men a lead they took to the finish.

Frankie Murphy got the first of the brace with Robbie Kenny adding the second from a 45-metre free into the town end.

At the interval Trim led by 0-5 to 0-3 and outscored O'Mahonys by 2-3 to 0-2 thereafter.

In the minutes after the restart, O'Mahonys passed up a couple of goal chances. Top scorer Ben Forde and team captain Adam McEvoy went close.

Trim put one hand on the Oliver Harding Cup in the 38th minute when Harry Kennedy netted from a well-taken penalty.

The award was made against an O'Mahonys' defender who who appeared to touch the ball on the ground inside the 'small' square.

A Kenny point from play left six between the sides before Forde (free) pulled on back for O'Mahonys to leave the Brews Hill side trailing 0-4 to 1-6 at the second water break.

O'Mahonys pressed for scores in the final quarter, but Trim were more productive with Cian Walsh and Frankie Murphy adding points. Their final score arrived in the 52nd minute when sub Mark Dempsey netted.

Trim defended with great effect snuffing out further goal chances while McEvoy crashed a goal attempt against the post following a jinking run by sub Darren Clarke.

Forde's final point (free) merely put a dint in the deficit for O'Mahonys.
