Yesterday was a special day for Donie Smith who made his 100th senior appearance for Roscommon.

The long-serving Boyle attacker came off the bench in the 60th minute of the Rossies’ surprise 3-11 to 1-12 Allianz League Division 1 opening round victory over Tyrone at Hyde Park. Ironically, Smith also made his senior debut as a substitute against the Red Hands in 2012.

Three second half goals from Ciaráin Murtagh, Diarmuid Murtagh and Ben O’Carroll made for a successful return to the top-flight for Roscommon under their new manager Davy Burke.
