Patrickswell's Cian Lynch celebrates

Patrickswell dethroned Na Piarsaigh this evening to leave themselves a win away from a second Limerick senior hurling title in three years.

Kevin O’Brien, Patrick Kirby and Tom O’Brien struck the goals in a 3-21 to 1-22 win for The Well’ at the Gaelic Grounds, where Limerick star Aaron Gillane also weighed in with 0-8 for the victors.

Gillane had set-up Kevin O’Brien for the first goal seven minutes in and Kirby’s goal six minutes later had the 2019 champions in the driving seat.

Keith Dempsey’s goal kept the holders in contention but they’d still trail at the break by 2-11 to 1-9.

David Dempsey and Kevin Downes sailed points early in the restart for Na Piarsaigh but they’d rocked again when Tom O’Brien rebounded in a Kevin O’Brien effort, leaving Patrickswell with one foot in the final.

Brian Murray in Patrickswell goal pulled off a couple of fine saves to make sure there was no path to a comeback for the holders, as The Well' now take on Kilmallock in the final on October 24th.
