Corofin make it back-to-back wins in Galway SFC

Corofin secured back-to-back wins in the Galway SFC with an eleven-point victory over Caherlistrane at Tuam Stadium yesterday.

Martin Farragher scored the opening goal for the reigning All-Ireland champions right on the stroke of half-time as they led by 1-6 to 0-5 at the break and then Liam Silke popped up with a second after the resumption. 

Kevin O'Brien's side ran out comfortable 2-14 to 0-9 winners in the end.

It was a busy Saturday afternoon of Frank Fox Cup action with seven matches in total across four venues.

Salthill-Knocknacarra surprisingly slipped to their second successive defeat of the campaign when losing 1-9 to 0-10 to Monivea-Abbey at Kenny Park.

Mountbellew-Moylough shared the spoils with Milltown and Claregalway defeated An Cheathru Rua.

There were also a notable victory for Bearna against Oughterard, while city sides St James' and St Michael's both recorded wins.

The two remaining second round fixtures take place as part of a double-header at Pearse Stadium this afternoon as holders Moycullen meet Annaghdown.
