Retired Cork ladies football star Brid Stack was hospitalised after suffering an injury while playing for Greater Western Sydney Giants in a AFLW practice match against Adelaide Crows on Sunday.

The 11-time All-Ireland winner took a heavy knock towards the end of the fourth quarter at the Norwood Oval and was subsequently taken to hospital by ambulance due to "spinal precaution protocols."

An update on the Giants’ Twitter account reads: "Unfortunately, Irish recruit Brid Stack has been taken to hospital following spinal precaution protocols after a collision in a tackle late in the fourth quarter.

"She’s in the best possible care and we will provide a full update when we have further information."

Stack retired from inter-county football in 2019 following a sensational career before making a u-turn to join Mayo star Cora Staunton at the Sydney-based club.
