Replying To Robroy1:  "Jesus no wonder players walk if this is the support they get in the county. Emlyn has had plenty of opportunity to walk before or indeed play for another county but never even entered his head , he always stated he would only play for Leitrim ... does it not look apparent to everyone Hyland style is way out there , and maybe he gave no respect to the older players who played through the barren years. Even when Hyland spoke on Sunday game it was all them and Leitrim no 'us' from him was so apparent he wanted to distance himself from the whole thing ... he has worked no miracles he inherited a team who hammered a division 2 in Louth and spend a half going toe to toe with a division 1 team and didn't look out of place last year plus add in the aughawillan players who would not play for their county last year (that no one seems to mind) and of course we have a strong playing hand .... we got promoted because we have the players to do so and he was the first manager in years to have a full hand... but a lot of wins in the league were papering over cracks.. If Mulligan left I have no doubt he felt he had no other choice and it was a difficult decision but a corner back been put on ahead of him at centre forward couldn't have helped and Reynolds not even getting a run when we were being cut open.... S&C is crap talk majority of these lads have been on panel for 3 years , a lot of Roscommon players same time on s&c programmed , we can't always be 4 years behind , tactically we were sent out to slaughter ...we have good footballers and the ones that left have never done it before so why now ... and finally Mulligan did not go to the papers or go public that he left he obviously tried to keep it quiet so the media and publicity comments are very unnecessary... a brilliant player , I hope he enjoys the time away and comes back fresh next year because he is a long way off finished"
Wouldn't say he had a full hand to pick from this year. Last years captain Donal Wrynn and Leitrim's best forward keith Beirne both opted out. I don't think anyone is doubting the service of mulligan just he's not the loss he would have been a couple of years ago. I do agree he could still offer something to this group. But as a supporter I fully back this management team at least till after the league next season and see how that goes.

I very rarely miss a Leitrim game FBD, league, championship. Leitrim have 100% improved. Another winter of proper S&C will continue to help. The improvement in players, look at Pearce Dolan, Keith berine, etc they are different players now than the last few years no question about it. Hopefully Moran stays on for at least 2-3 years more and I genuinely believe we could be pushing for Div 2 football by then.

Replying To Leitrimdivide:  "For all the people criticising the coaching officer and others I have two questions. 1. What can the coaching officer actually practically do to improve the situation? Don't give empty answers like "develop a plan, implement structures" etc etc. Thats waffle talk. How can he actually in a practical sense improve our situation? How can he improve players skills/attitudes/application in kinlough, annaduff, manorhamilton, fenagh?? I think he's a scapegoat. Clubs are more to blame for not developing their own players. This leads to my second question. 2. Those of you who have been vocal in criticism how much have you actually done with regards to coaching players in your own clubs? Have you been actively involved in coaching and if not why not? What gives you the right then to come on here and criticise seeing as you are part of the problem through your lack of involvement. Or indeed if you have been involved well then you are also part of the problem as your coaching obviously isn't up to task. My point is that we all need to share the blame not attribute the blame to others. If we are involved well then our coaching isnt good enough and if we are not well then we should be!! So remember when pointing the finger three fingers point back to you."
So if you as an employer employee someone for 20 Years and you see poor result every single year while all other people around them are thriving surely you would ask the question is this person good enough for the job. The results speak for themselves we are a laughing stock at underage. James Glancy was a huge benefit to the underage development in the county he couldn't work with the main coaching officer. I have a child attending u15 Leitrim academy team every Saturday he was u14 last year also and I haven't seen the head of coaching 3 times in the last 18 months that tells it's own story. On a Saturday anything upto 70 Kids from 13-16 years of age are there and no sign of him. As for what can he do he can be more pro active in improving the standard of coaching with in the clubs. Not bringing coaches into rooms for presentations it has to be on the grass. I remember back a number of years ago James Glancy organising Donie Buckley, paddy Christie to name a few taking coaching sessions and inviting club coaches to come along and watch the session with e.g Leitrim u16 team. This was first hand experience watching the best coaches in the country in Action and how to run a session. During covid I seen Sligo coaching officer on social Media putting drills and Challenges up for players to try in their garden and get them using both left and right side. That's been pro-active. Not a thing up on Social media from Leitrim Coaching. Don't get me wrong the GDOs are really trying hard now to make things happen but they need proper leadership from The top and I don't believe that is happening So much can be done to improve the standard but unfortunately If the standard at the very top is pathetic then how would we start to bridge the gap with our Connacht neighbours

I suppose we got the 4th hardest team out of the 8 possible. I don't think Clare are as good as Roscommon but are a lot better than Wicklow. It will be a good test for us too see exactly where we are at. My hunch is that we will give them a game of it in Carrick but they will be that little bit more clinical and prob be 5 or 6 points better than us come the final whistle. The performance is the main thing and to rattle Clare would give these young lads good confidence going into div 3 next year. I would say Clare is the bar that leitrim need to aspire to reach in the next couple of years. They have held there own in div 2 and the Munster championships. I also think the players will see this as a realistic team they could shock. If we had drawn mayo Tyrone Armagh i don't think the players would have had much hope.

Going to try and second geuss highland here and name the team I think will start against Wexford McKiernan M.McWeeney McTegiue Maguire Mulvey. Plunkett. Quinn Moran Dolan Heslin. G. Plunkett. D. Rooney Sweeney McGovern. O Rourke Going by the mayo game the players unlucky to loose out is Conor renoylds but I think they need more expirence in that back line. Also Aiden Flynn but he went off injured so I assume he won't be fit to play. I don't think Sean Mc weeney is Upto that pace just yet. Donal flynn does a lot of the so called donkey work in the team but his distribution of the ball is questionable at times. Cillian McGlion was played at half back which I don't think work very well for him. His pace is frighting so maybe hold him in reserve and with 15 mins to go put him on and let him run at the Wexford defence. Obviously mulligan is another player that they could spring from the bench for his expirence alone to hopefully see out the game. It's great to have such a competitive squad this year.

The team I would pick to play Derry this weekend is below. Most of these lads haven't seen much game time in the league and they have contributed just as much as the lads that have played all the games. I have no doubt they have push the starting team all the way in training. Time to give these boys game time and see what they are Made of it and see can any of them put there hand up to stake a claim for Croke park. Against waterford next week then I'd go with the starting team for the final. McCrann C. Renoylds F. McTeigue Madden N McWeeney Renoylds J Rooney C. Cullen S. Flanagan Ward Mulligan McGloin McCauley D McGovern (needs game time) D Rooney (needs game time) Possibly Heslin if fit although maybe give him an extra week and get game time against waterford. Shows you the the dept in this panel this year.

The good thing about the fixtures this weekend is that we will know our faith before the game Sunday. Limerick and Wicklow both play Saturday. If any of them drop points on Saturday then a win against London will officially be enough for us to be promoted. Nobody in their wildest dreams could have thought we would be promoted With 2 games to spare. Although the conversation before the league started was that it was going to be very difficult going to Derry if we needed a result. Looks like we won't need one now. I'd give all the lads that haven't seen regular game time so far the chance to play in the last 2 games. Keep the squad competitive.

I just seen AC has been reappointed for another couple of years. I believe that's good for yee moving forward. He had Roscommon operating between Div 1 & 2 which is no bad achievement. Yes yee had a bad day out against mayo but don't forget mayo have been the second best team in the country over the last 10 years and will be in an all-Ireland final again this year and were leading Dublin at half time of a semi-final last year. From reading some posts here it shows how far Roscommon have came in the last few years when they now Expect to win Connacht finals. Yee will re-group give div 1 a rattle next year and I wouldn't be surprised if yee were Connacht champions again in 2021. AC is a very good managed and prob the most impressive CV in GAA. Connacht senior title, Connacht club Title, Leinster club title, Leinster intercounty title (Galway) 2 all-Ireland finals (Galway) along with both Roscommon and Westmeath club titles. That's some going

Replying To eoinog:  "I love how complimentary you are to our managers marking them out if 10, what would you give out of 10 to Hyland who brought you from Div 4 up to 3 and back down to 4 in 2 years without winning a championship game in Connacht at the same time ?? I have to eat humble pie and say that I never thought Harte would manage again. I have no idea why he would want to tarnish his excellent reputation by taking on a Div 4 team ?. I suppose he didn't want a team in Ulster where he would come up against his beloved Tyrone. The closest county for him outside of Ulster is Louth. They are a better team than us at present. Div 4 will be a mine field next year."
I'd personally rate Hyland around a 6. Leitrim have improved immensely under him and getting promoted under him was a huge achievement. This year was hard to judge we had some promising results pre Covid. Drew with Derry up in Derry. Were competitive against cork. Through away the game against Offaly and hammered Louth. After Covid we should have bet tipp in the last league game. We were relatively competitive against mayo for 40 mins. Next year is where Hyland will show his worth if Leitrim can get back out of div 4 as you said it will be a mine field. The Leitrim Sligo game will be very interesting. If I was Sligo I'd be trying too see could they get O'Hara and McEntee to sit down and chat and see could they come together possibly.

I have an interest in football and enjoy watching club finals as it's the heartbeat of the GAA and to see how much it means to people. I agree anyone can attend a game anywhere you don't have to be from the county to go. Anyways if I was Roscommon I'd be going all out for Davy Burke from the names that are left.

It's a huge weekend indeed. Win our game and Derry win then that will be it I'd be thinking. However the opposite results in both games leaves us in bother. I'd take a draw right now tbh. I'd say dean Mc govern will go into the full forward line instead of D.Moran as I think Moran is better off the bench. Rooney will start instead of Heslin if he's not fit. Will mulligan push a starting place. Serious competition for places. Off the top of my head you have Heslin, McGloin, Moran, Mulligan, Rooney, Plunkett, O'Rourke, Flynn, Sweeney, McGovern all fighting for 5 forward positions as Hyland plays McWeeney as a sweeper. That's 10 players for 5 positions and you can make a case for any of them to start.

Firstly thanks to the Leitrim players who went and did there best that wasn't easy. Secondly we can't really blame management for this. We have a coaching officer in this county for 20 years and he has never once being questioned. Hyland has been here 3 season 2 of them hampered by Covid and somehow people will try and blame him for this. The county board need to question why we are so uncompetitive. The county need to grow a pair and get rid of the head of coaching and give it too someone who knows what they are at and aren't just there to pick up a pay cheque. I for one will never buy a Leitrim supporter ticket again or support any fundraisers for the county team if that doesn't happen.

Any work on any challenge games is recently. Is everyone still on board? If they are it's a huge sign of the confidence the lads have in Andy and the management team. Hopefully we can give a good performance in this comp and continue to build on the S&C work throughout the remainder of the year. I still think we are going in the right direction

Replying To LeitrimWay:  "Just under a month to go till our match against the Rossies in the Hyde. Disappointing to hear that Darragh Rooney has decided to leave the panel even more worrying is the reports that one or 2 others may follow suit. I really think we can put up a good show against the Rossies. We haven't been competitive against them in years but I'd be disappointed if we didn't give them a scare or atleast keep in within 5 points this year. After reflecting on the League Final I have no doubts that Terry will make changes to the team. Going to run through what I think might happen. McCrann will stay in nets. As harsh as it was on McKiernan the decision was vindicated and no reason to change it now. The Roscommon Full Forward line will consist of Diarmuid Murtagh, Conor Cox and either Lennon or Cathal Cregg. Paddy will have to mark Murtagh he is their real star, if he returns to top form after injury and can't be given a free roam. Conor Cox as been some find for them, he is a bull and can kick off both feet. In my eyes, now that he will have had an extra 6 weeks training since the Final Fergal McTague is the only defender we have that is physical enough to take on Cox and has to start. Finally, Michael McWeeney to pick up Lennon or Cregg. In the half back line I'd make one change. Aidan Flynn to wing-back but to tag Enda Smith no matter where he roams to. Flynn has been brilliant this year and is definitely one of our fittest and physically strong players - I cant see anyone else that could nulify Smith. Therefore Shane Quinn will move to Center back and Ray Mulvey hopefully continues his brilliant year at wing back. In Midfield I'd go with Shane Moran and Pearce Dolan. Moran is a no brainer even with the baffling decision to take him off against Derry. And Pearce Dolan need faith put in him we've all seen his ability but messing him around at no.14 can't be helping his confidence. He will also suit Tadgh O'Rourke who is a rangy lanky midfielder who has started all of the Rossies games. The half Forward line is where I'd make big changes. We were far to immobile and slow here against Derry and the lack of a link man all year has been killing us leaving our full forward line to isolated. I'd go with Cillian McGloin, Mark Plunkett and Jack Heslin here. McGloin and Heslin pace can cause any team trouble and Plunkett is probably best at 11 where he can roam and really get involved in the play while also switching with Moran now and again to give him a breather. Plunkett and McGloin are also big men and can be targets for our kickouts. Losing Darragh Rooney is a massive blow to our full forward line. but we still have more scoring forwards then we have ever had. Ryan O'Rourke is obviously a guaranteed starter but with the way Anthony Cunningham has been setting them up I expect their sweeper to be covering him at all times. So others will have to step up. At the beginning of the year if you had of told me that Evan Sweeney would have been starting with the forwards we have available I would have scoffed but he has proved me completely wrong and for a small man wins his fair share of 50/50 ball so I'd start him again. Than finally I'd bring Gary Plunkett in. Still can't get my head around how he seen no game time in headquarters but he has pace, strength and can kick off both feet and crucially has done it in high pressured games for the Willies so I think he is the perfect foil for O'Rourke to free up space for him. There is a few issues to sort out. Free taking being the main one. I'd let Mark Plunkett or McCrann take the ones from 40 yards out and then let any of the three in the full forward line take the close in ones. It's an area we can't afford to slip up in. The full back line was taken to the cleaners against Derry so needs to tighten up but I expect the Rossies to play a sweeper so that should free Shane Quinn up to do the same. There has been some talk that Donal Wrynn has been asked in again which would be huge in my eyes but It's said he is still under work pressure. McCrann Maguire McTague McWeeney Flynn Quinn Mulvey Moran Dolan McGloin Plunkett Heslin O'Rourke Plunkett Sweeney Subs: McKiernan Madden C.Reynolds McWeeney N.Plunkett McGovern Flynn Mulligan Moran Cullen Brady"
Great analysis their. I agree with the team also and the rational behind it. The only change I would make and it's a maybe not definite is Conor renoylds instead of flynn he's also super fit and strong tackler. Played well when he came on against Derry. Fully agree We need to go with pace and match roscommon all over the place. I think we can beat them in the middle of the pitch which might will spring a platform to give them a good game of it. Anything under 6 would be a huge improvement for this team.

Enjoy you're trip to New York. I did it last year when leitrim was over there. It was the best trip I ever went on. The game it's self was unbelievable. Went to extra time we look dead and buried about 5 times throughout. Even the national media flew over too see history. Thankfully it didn't happen. Mayo will win handy as New York put everything into last years game. They have no Jamie clarke or tom coniffee this year. Make sure and stop off for a drink in Clarke's bar on McLean the new sponsors of leitrim gaa. Enjoy and stay safe

I'm surprise at mulligan always thought he'd be one of the players that would stick it out and have farewell party and him in the limelight. Its a cruel game at times. He's gone now but nobody thinks he's a big loss. Keith Beirne will replace him next year donal wrynn will replace Gary renoylds. The rest of the lads will commit. I'm sure mulligan would love to head a player strike in this county that ruined cork gaa for years. The reality of it he's at the end of a great journey With the county one that everyone would agree he gave it his all. If emyln was 20 - 25 years old I have no doubt terry would he trying to keep him in the panel. Terry constantly talks about this being a building process that could take a few years. He won't loose much sleep at lads in there 30s deciding to quit in fact I'd say it makes it easier than having to tell them they are surplus to requirements. Emyln has always and deservedly so being our star man but being a squad player isn't a role he wants and best of luck to him and thanks for his service he kept leitrim on the map for long enough time for new lads to step up to the plate now.

Hard luck to today you showed great bravery and courage to get back into the game when it was slipping away. After today and over the whole league this is my team to Face Ny 1. N O'Donnell 2 C Renoylds 3. M Diffley 4. P Maguire 5. D Casey 6. S Quinn 7. A Flynn 8. P Dolan 9. D Wrynn 10. D Rooney 11. J Heslin 12. M Plunkett 13. B McNulty 14. K Berine 15. T Prior Maybe a few positional changes but I think that is our best 15 for NY. You know to put pace in a team when the ground is Astro turf and with Rooney, Heslin and prior you have lots of pace while also having options for kick outs and Marks with plunkett McNulty and Beirne. Paul Keaney is off the pace in the games I seen him and so is Donal Flynn. Obviously Ryan O'Rourke is fit I'd be putting him in off the bench. I'd love to get another crack at Sligo in the Connacht semi final but NY will be a huge test first

Things don't seem to be great however missed goal chances yesterday cost us early on exactly the same as what cost us in NY. Andy tbf can't go out on the pitch and put the ball in the net. The biggest issue I see is the S&C it's way off. Leitrim don't look fit and we have had so many injuries. We used to hear the excuse oh the clubs are flogging them but none of these players have been near the clubs. If Andy had a full squad to pick from we would be in Div 3 now. The likes of Ryan O Rourke, Jordan Renoylds, Conor Dolan, Donal Casey, Tom Prior, Conor Renoylds, Cillain McGlion, Evan Sweeney etc have all missed games this year and in some cases have not been able to get on the pitch at all. None of these men as far as I'm aware broke limbs it's all hamstring groin quad injuries Leitrim can not afford to lose these players. I hope Andy Moran does another year and get a full squad on the pitch but to do that he needs to re-evaluate his S&C
