Brendan Lowry, father of top golfer Shane, has been inducted into the Offaly GAA Hall of Fame.

It’s another big honour for the famous sporting family in a year when Shane Lowry holed the decisive putt to retain the Ryder Cup for Europe. Brendan was a brilliant forward with Ferbane and Offaly in the 1980s, being part of the Faithful side that famously denied Kerry a five-in-a-row of All-Ireland SFC titles in 1982.

Only last Sunday, Brendan was on the sideline as a selector for his adopted Clara as they came up short against a highly-rated Sallins in the Leinster club IFC semi-final at Cedral St Conleth’s Park.

Meanwhile, Ferbane’s Cathal Flynn and Charlie Mitchell from Kilcormac/Killoughey have been chosen as the 2025 Offaly Senior Footballer and Hurler of the Year respectively.
