Burren and Bellaghy will meet in the Paul McGirr Ulster U16 Club Football Championship in Dromore next Sunday.
In last weekend’s semi-finals at Páirc Ghearrdhroma, Burren moved within 60 minutes of their third title thanks to a 2-11 to 1-9 victory over an understrength Ramor United, while Bellaghy withstood a late rally from Armagh champions Clan na Gael to prevail by 1-15 to 3-6.
Shane McGreevey and Jonny Denner raised green flags for Burren in their victory on Sunday, while Oran Doyle was the Bellaghy goal-scorer in their win on Saturday.
Featuring the U16 football champions of all nine Ulster counties, the tournament was first staged in 1999 by the Dromore St. Dympna’s club in memory of Paul McGirr, who tragically passed away following a collision while scoring a goal for Tyrone against Armagh in an Ulster MFC game against two years earlier.
All proceeds from the tournament go directly to the ‘Spirit Of Paul McGirr Trust’.
