Replying To Jab.Lift:  "No tinted glasses on today SouthCounty, I've seen Slaughtneil a fair few times over the last number of years as a player and know their behaviour very well, trash talk is a big part of their game to get under the opposition's skin, they actually played well against Dunloy in the Ulster Final when they simply let themselves do a bit of hurling but today was a totally different game, they seemed to have to revert to old methods and tactics(bully's with hurls is what their manager tried to say they weren't) some players were obviously well briefed on how to mark the opposite player using a brand of football defending and checking, well sorry you ain't gonna rough up a team with the experience of Ballyhale, imagine if they had let the shackles off as they did in the last 10 what might have been !!!!!! Felt the shamrocks could have responded when the needed too, done enough to get over the line on a sticky January pitch in newry - Croker will be a different sod and a vast amount of room for both teams to play in..... As Shefflin said they will let their hurling do the talking and they did- a few Ballyhale players could've got caught up in the attention they received but they kept their cool and continued to hurl....now that's pure class"
Can't agree jab lift and on another day Fennelly could have been blown for overcarrying. Slaughtneil play a good hard brand of hurling laced with skil and to imply they are bullies with hurls is ridiculous. Good tackling is massive in the modern game! Love to see it. Some game between two great teams and Ballyhales experience and nous just about got them over the line. Great watch!

Time To Accept Offaly Are Now A "Weaker" County - 3 Like(s)
Massive win for Down and further vindication of the manager and coach who have taken a lot of these lads through Feb squads and minor. Down had 4 teams in their senior championship this year. Bredagh on the outskirts of Belfast and after serious underage work for 15 years actually beat an Ards team (first time this has happened in 60 years) Next year probably 5 teams in Down SHC as Liatroim well fit to move up. After that there will be 4 intermediate teams and 5 in junior. If East Belfast who started up in 2020 go the same way re underage hurling as neighbors Bredagh and lesser extent Carryduff then that's another plus. 8 clubs represented on Down panel. What I am trying to say is our resources are nowhere near Offaly s but we seem to be getting the best outa what we have. Surely Offaly can sort themselves out?

Replying To Antrimroad:  "Clearly have never been to a county hurling game or club, I've been to both hurling and football games and I know which one I'd rather be at, which has the better atmosphere. Football and hurling should be the focus for county as we have a hurling squad better than any in recent years, as for the football it's a bit of all Ireland standard. People like you would rather see young down gaels focus on one code say football is the reason our county is in the state it has been. I believe now tho the future will be bright for both codes just a matter of time, patience and a lot of hard work"
Fair play to blu he left the hook and line in just the 11 years and hooked one!

Replying To Galgetgael:  "Totally agree, some scribes on this page jump in with both feet ( and big mouth ) when they haven't a clue what they're talking about, but that's Down hurling all over."
So Antrim quite happy to have Down clubs prop up the standard of their top division but can't see to it to even switch one round of fixtures to help our chances in a national final. Poor form from our Ulster neighbours. Surely fixtures have some flexibility?

Replying To Jab.Lift:  "Thank god hurling prevailed in Newry, the sledging and behaviour of the slaughneil players let themselves down a bucket full.A club the promotes themselves as the ultimate Gaa club have no perch to sit on, no respect for the opposing opposition, continually shouted abuse and booed T.J at every free, thank god their air horns ran out. Mcgrath was an embarrassment- obviously sent out to put big Cody off his game, no intention of hurling against him so let's drag him down a level- not to mention breaking a players stick in half and throwing Another two hurls off the pitch which he got booked for, their manager couldn't control his emotions either, twice trying to put T.J off his free taking in sight of everyone in the stand, I understand some teams have a whatever it takes to win attitude but this won't work on the big stage-was a pity too because without being set up like this the slaughneil team can hurl a bit too. Role on the final..."
Poor comment jab lift take your Ballyhale tinted glasses off and give credit were its due - Slaughtneil were immense today and but for a few dodgy decisions second half could well have got over the line. Great to see an Ulster hurling team play so well and to hell with the begrudgery.
