Waterford's championship hopes have been rocked by a full-blown injury crisis.
With tough Munster SHC round-robin games coming up against Tipperary, Limerick and Cork over the next three weekends, last year's All-Ireland finalists- beaten by Clare on Sunday - are in real danger of making an early championship exit.
The fall-out from the Clare game in Ennis is alarming for Waterford supporters, with Tadhg de Burca and Barry Coughlan having sustained a broken collarbone and hand respectively.
Darragh Fives is also expected to miss the remainder of the provincial campaign with a calf problem, hile four other key men are struggling.
"The Team Management and the medical team are currently assessing the situation regarding Noel Connors, who had to leave the field at half time with a back injury and Maurice Shanahan, who had to remain on the field although suffering with a groin issue, along with the serious injuries acquired to Austin Gleeson and Pauric Mahony," a Waterford GAA statement reads.
Furthermore, the depleted Suirsiders are not going to contest a proposed one-match suspension for Kevin Moran, who was sent off on Sunday.
