Many tributes have been paid to an Antrim club hurler whose sudden passing at the age of 30 has shocked the local community.
Paul McGreevy died last Sunday, just two months after helping the Belfast Saints – who are a combination of St Teresa’s and St Agnes’ – to an Antrim JHC ‘B’ title success at Naomh Bríd’s expense. Paul, who worked in IT, also lined out for Liverpool Wolfe Tones between 2021 an ’23. He was laid to rest in Blaris Cemetery, Belfast on Thursday.
"Everyone at Belfast Saints hurling club are deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of our senior player Paul McGreevy,” a social media post read.
"Paul was a dependable member of our Championship winning squad this year, who always gave his all. He was a good guy, who has gone too soon. Our thoughts are with Paul's family and all of his loved ones.”
St Teresa's also paid their respects: "The committee and members of Cumann Naomh Treasa GAC deeply regret to learn of the sudden passing of club member and senior hurler, Paul McGreevy. We offer our sincere sympathy to Paul's family and friends at this time. St Teresa pray for him."
