The Mullahoran community was in deep mourning in January after the death of John Joe Brady, who passed away at 87 years of age at Cavan General Hospital. Upon his return from England in 1971, Johnny quickly became involved with Mullahoran GFC and was elected chairman three years later. The opening of Our Lady of Lourdes Park in 1983 was a proud day for him and his talents became quickly noticed as he went on to become a county board delegate and eventually Cavan vice-chairman. At the time of his death he was club President. The Dreadnoughts club honoured him in 2013 with a life-time long service award. John Joe was predeceased by his wife Philomena six years ago.
