Adare saw off holders Newcastle West last night to march into the semi-finals of the Limerick senior football championship.
It finished 1-13 to 0-11 at Mick Neville Park, where Shane O’Connor’s eighth minute goal and the points of brothers Hugh and Robbie Bourke helped Adare to lead by 1-6 to 0-7 at the half.
Newcastle West trimmed the deficit back to three by the second water break prior to a brace of points from Mickey Lyons at the other end sealing the deal for the 2018 champions.
Adare now face Galbally in the semi-finals after they sprung an upset by defeating Oola by 1-11 to 0-11 in Kilbreedy, where Jamie Morrisey’s late goal made all the difference.
